1) Organizers Profile: EE Student Branch at Iqra University was

founded in May, 2011. It is a student run organization which promotes the
interests of undergraduate and graduate students on campus. Together

with collaboration and work from students of other departments, we host

educational and recreational competitions, coordinate opportunities to
meet with corporate representatives and facilitate networking between
industry and students.
The students of IUIC organized a three day competition event for Iqra
University students on 11-12 December 2012, which proved to be a
successful event. TectIQs held in November 2013 proved to be a huge
success as around 550 participants from 32 different institutes that
included universities and colleges, competed in the event competitions.
This year we are expecting a crowd of 1500 students with around 800
active participants.
2) Event Overview: TectIQs is an annual event of Iqra University
Islamabad Campus (IUIC), organized solely by the students. The event
consists of two major types of competitions;

Curricular based competitions

Extracurricular competitions
Social events

The prime focus of the event is to promote technological advances and

provide students and other academia a platform to meet industrial
representatives and share their experiences. This will develop an
industrial liaison which will help the job seekers and fresh undergraduate
students to have some contacts in their respective industry. The
competition will ensure students to be motivated towards their goals.
3) Event History: The previous version of the event, TectIQs 13 held in
November 2013, proved to be a huge success as around 550 competition
based registered participants from 32 different institutes that included
universities & colleges, competed in the event. National ICTRDF was the
gold sponsor of that event.

4) Event Uniqueness: The prime focus of event is our technical

competitions that the event holds. The architecture of those particular
events aligns with subsequent disciplines of education. Some of the major
technical event competitions that fall under the domain of electrical &
computer engineering are as following:

Speed Programming
The aim of this contest is to amass transcendent programmers and
provide them with a podium to compete and demonstrate their
programming and logic skills. Here the contestants will have to
demonstrate their competence in skill, knowledge, speed, composure and
pressure, which will be tested at their height.
The programming language will be C++.

Engineering Problem Solving

This event will engage participants in creative and technical
problem solving. The purpose of the event is to stimulate critical and
creative thinking skills of participants. The participants will encounter
problems from digital logic design, electronics, circuit analysis, signals and
systems and discrete signal processing etc. The problems will be purely
conceptual.

Mobile App Development

Smartphone is exponentially getting its pace herein Pakistan. For past
few years it has become essential to build up Smart programmers.
TectIQs takes the pledge of providing smartphone developers thriving
and sensational environments for a competition. Now the smart phone
users themselves can participate in this competition. The sole purpose of
this completion is to bring out the best smart phone application
developers.
Android platform will be provided to all the participants.

Logic Bees
The contest contains visualization, realization and competence of the
given problems. The problem given will test participants grasp over
Digital Logic Design (which includes timers, counters, gates and flip

flops etc.). The design presented by the students

Speed wiring
This contest will determine the technical and quickness skills of
participants in dealing with wires. A circuit will be given which is to be
implemented. It will be a race against both the time to beat the deadline
and to accomplish the task before the other teams.

d) Possibility of hosting Intels science
fair at the campus in part with the
universitys event.
Fundamentals:
This would require the university to
host the Intels science fair in light of
its capacity requirements and ensure
to follow by all relevant dimensions of
the competition along with the
institutes own annual premier event,
the Tectiqs 14.
Type of Partnership:
This is one of the main fixtures on the
agenda of Intels annual calendar
events and would be going under
monetary partnership in addition to
some partial in-part commitments.

The required format of Intels science

fair goes ahead of the possible event
hosting capacity of the institute.
However, the institute is looking at
ways and means in which it can be
made possible for the institute to host
the event, if not side-by-side with
Tectiqs 14 then probably independently.
The university is assessing the
requirements of the event & making
subsequent checks for possibilities of
hosting and will get back to you on this
in the coming weeks.
