FaithfulElephantsisabeautifullywrittenbookbasedonatruestory.Thestorytakes
placeatUenoZooinTokyo.Itstartsonagorgeousdayatthezoowithabigcrowd.Two
elephantsputonashowforthecrowd,whichleadsthezookeepertoreminisceonoldertimes.
Hetellsthestoryofthreeelephantsthatoncelivedinthezoo.TheirnameswereJohn,Tonky
andWanly.BombsweredroppedonTokyoeverydaysotheworkersatthezoobecamevery
concernedwiththeanimalsescapingifabombdropped.TheArmytoldthezootheyhadto
poisonthelions,tigers,leopards,bearsandbigsnakes.
Next,itwastheelephantsturn.Theytrieddifferenttacticswithallthreeelephantstotry
topoisonthemtodeathbutitwasnotworking.Nexttheyreluctantlydecidedtostarvethe
elephants.Theelephantsputupagoodfightandtriedtogettheworkersattentiontofeedthem.
Finally,theelephantstrainergaveinandfedthem.Itwasnotenoughtokeeptheelephantsalive
though.Twoweekslatertheydiedandalloftheworkersweresosad.Nowallthatwasleftof
thethreeelephantswasthetombstoneplacedinthezoointheirmemory.
