For automatic trip actions, P2000 can reconnect the load after a
configurable/programmable interval (default is 3 minutes), either
automatically, or by pushing a button in the home display unit H1000
(if installed, and can be enabled/disabled). Meter will however
disconnect again if the defined limits are still exceeded after reconnect.
5.
6.
A buzzer sound will be given by the home display unit (aka split meter)
if installed when the configured limit has been exceeded as a warning/
indication to the end customer.(Optional)
7.
8.
The load control functionalities can be configured both locally via the
optical/RS485 port, and remotely from Microstar TMR (AMR/AMI)
system.
9.
To protect the meter against tampering, the meter will cut off power
supply upon terminal cover open. The meter wont reconnect if the
disconnect is triggered by the terminal cover open event. The meter
will remain disconnected until a utility operator or engineer enters an
18
MICROSTAR
STS token to release the meter from the state. The feature is disabled
if the total active energy is below 10 kWh to facilitate the initial
installation of the meter.

b.
Step Tariff:
P2000 can record and store up to 10 step tariff rates at the meter
end for both online and offline communications. The step rate
boundaries can be modified by portable devices, or via recharge
code/smart cards, or through GSM/GPRS communication (if
available).
It can define three tariff classes or categories, namely Residential,
Non-residential and Free-zone of consumers.

Vending system can define the monthly fixed charges for the
applicable tariff.
e.
Fixed Charges:
P2000 can deduct fixed charges on a daily or monthly basis such
as meter rent. The fixed charges can be defined using the online
vending system.
Emergency Credit:
P2000 can be programmed with an emergency credit. With this
value configured, user can push a button on the in-home display
unit to resume power supply after being cut off due to not
enough credit.
After the power supply is resumed, the meter will continue to
charge the account until it reaches the emergency credit limit.
When the emergency credit is also exhausted, P2000 meter will
disconnect the load again. This time pressing the button on the
home display unit will not reconnect the power supply.
The load will be reconnected only when the user recharges the
account that the available credit is enough to pay for the next
kWh unit(s) to be consumed. The emergency credit limit will be
reset when the power supply resumes.
The emergency credit can be set to zero to disable the feature.

4. Refund of Balance
Refund the balance/vending amount from P2000 is supported
(Optional). The amount to be left in the meter when withdrawing a
final amount from meter is configurable.
Open an account
Before using P2000 as prepayment meter, an account must be
opened. Utility operators will set the necessary parameters,
including the meter/user ID, the meter key, and the initial power
credit if any. Typically a customer account/profile will be created
in the power vending system, and associated with the meter ID.
After the configurations, the meter will be ready to use. Once
the customers start consuming electricity, P2000 meters will
subtract the account credit based on the tariff settings.
2)
Recharge account:
Customers can recharge the account by purchasing power from
the power vending system. The power vending system generates
20-digit tokens, based on user/meter information, purchase date
and credit amount. Users shall enter the token into the meter via
22
MICROSTAR
keyboard entry in the home display unit or via swiping the smart
card (OPTIONAL).
Upon receiving the 20-digit token, P2000 will decode the token
and perform all the necessary authentications per STS
specifications. Once the token was accepted as authentic and
valid, the purchased credit will be added to the available account
credit in the meter secure storage. At the same time, the
purchased amount and the new account balance will be
displayed on LCD to provide user feedback that the recharge is
successful.
Each token can only be accepted once.
3)
Negative balance:
In case of negative balance, due to friendly credit, or emergency
credit, or other overdraft consumptions, the purchased amount
will be applied to cover the debt first. The meter will reconnect
the power supply only if the new balance after deducting the
debt is positive or higher than the configured threshold.
4)
5)
Steps for customers to input the credit TOKEN into meter via the
home display unit:
a) Enter the token input mode, and key in the 20-digits TOKEN
via keypad (Or put the smart card on the home display unit).
23
MICROSTAR
b) Check the numbers on the LCD, if there are any mistakes, use
the backspace key to erase and modify.
c) After entry of all the 20 digits, press the Enter button to
confirm the TOKEN input.
d) If TOKEN is correctly entered and accepted by the meter, the
LCD will display accept and the amount purchased.
e) If TOKEN is incorrectly entered or is invalid, LCD will display
reject or other error indications.
f) Note that after 10 continues TOKEN rejections, P2000 meter
will be locked for one day (24 hours) for security reasons.

The GPRS antenna should be installed in a secure location with good signal reception.
The installation should follow these guidelines:
For meters installed inside a metal meter cabinet with antenna chimney, the
antenna should be installed inside the chimney for best security and signal
reception.
For meters installed inside a metal meter cabinet with a window, the antenna
can be installed close to the window inside the meter cabinet (See the red
shaded area in the illustration on the next page).
For meters installed inside a completely metal meter cabinets without any
window, the antenna should be installed on the outside of the cabinet to allow
signal reception. Additional fixation or protection maybe required to prevent
the antenna from being tempered.
