Charles Darwin defined intelligent design as the pseudoscientific view that "certain features of
the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process
such as natural selection. Basically the belief that no person or any intelligent being could have made
the universe. Charles was a very religious man, baptized in the Anglican church he took after his
mothers Unitarian way, even while running to school(usually a mile) if he felt he were to be late he
would pray God to help me, and I well remember that I attributed my success to the prayers and not
to my quick running, and marvelled how generally I was aided." His belief in Natural Theology began
at about the time he had began his study at Christs College, Cambridge, where he had been
mesmerized by Paleys view on Christianity and Natural Theology. He had left Cambridge and join
HMS Beagle, he was unpaid and joined as a naturalist; yet his religious beliefs failed to fade. This is
where he had slowly began to lose his faith, he had analyzed Genesis and doubted that any man could
possibly create the world in just seven days. He had also lost his faith during the time of which
Charles Lyell wrote the of his first chapters of Principles of Geology, this book questioned almost
was inteligent but let the fact that his childrens death and other peers get the best of him eventually
losing his faith in god and the creation of all things on the earth.
To extrapolate, Darwinism had positive and negitive effects on the church, public, scientific
beliefs of the people, and much more. He wanted to create something that made sense to him and the
others around him. He died in April 19, 1882 Downe United Kingdom. Winning a few awards before
he had died were the Royal Medal, Wollaston Medal, and the Copely Medal. His books were world
renound and had started a miniature revolution.
