CCN-101 Introduction to Carrier Comfort Network (CCN) 1-Day

This course provides entry-level as well as the experienced controls technician with the skills necessary to install, interface with and
troubleshoot a Carrier Comfort Network. The course begins with a review of basic control theory followed by a discussion of the
standard algorithms used to control typical HVAC systems. Network configuration options and requirements, CCN architecture and
standard communications protocol will also be covered in detail. Students are then introduced to CCN family of standalone and
networked controllers, learn their function within the network and how they are wired. Students will learn how to use Network Service
Tool V software to interface with selected training simulators and will alter set point tables, occupancy schedules and monitor
algorithm performance.
Objectives:
Describe DDC and the four types of control points used
Learn basic DDC control loop theory
Learn the three basic strategies (PID) for operating DDC control loops
Identify various algorithms for standard HVAC applications
Identify major CCN modules and factory mounted PICs.
Understand CCN architecture and rules for addressing devices

CCN-201 PremierLink 2.0 1-Day
This course is designed to introduce the Carrier PremierLink Rooftop Controller, including applications, installation, programming,
start-up and troubleshooting. Classroom lecture is supplemented with problem solving and hands-on workshop with control hardware
and software. A design project is used to integrate the material and allow students to apply the principles learned in class.
Objectives:
Learn how PremierLink controls the staging of cooling and heating
Understand common PremierLink applications
Effectively program PremierLink controller
Understand how to implement demand control ventilation (DCV) strategies
Audience:

CCN-202 3V Control System 2-Days


This is designed to introduce the Carrier 3V Control System, including applications, installation, programming, start-up
and troubleshooting. Classroom lecture is supplemented with problem solving and hands-on workshop with control hardware and
software. A design project is used to integrate the material and allow students to apply the principles learned in class.
Objectives:
Demonstrate 3V VVT air source linkage, linkage coordinator functions, zone supplemental heat configurations, as well as
standalone or floating zone operation
Understand how to implement demand control ventilation (DCV) strategies
Setup and commission 3V Zone Controllers
Setup a 3V Bypass Controller and calibrate the bypass damper actuator and pressure sensor
Audience:

Prerequisites:
CCN-101, CCN-201 and have a basic understanding of zoned air system concepts

CCN-301 CC1600/CC6400 Comfort Controller Course 3-Days


This course will teach the experienced technician about the Carrier Comfort Controller . This session is targeted toward the student
whose responsibility will be to configure, develop and implement and/or diagnose the Carrier Comfort Controller for projects require
a customers specific needs via a custom sequence of operations.
Objectives:
Basic Installation methods
Proper programming and understanding key configuration and diagnostic decisions
Learn How to change system parameters such as Setpoints and Occupancy Schedules
Work through applications that require Selecting Hardware, Creating Points List, and Selecting Proper Algorithms for the Application
Learn How to commissioning the product
Learn How to Trouble-Shoot product after completion of a project

CCN-302 Best++ Programming 1-Day
This course is designed for individuals who desire a basic understanding of Carriers customized controller language called
BEST++. Code writing and the new object oriented programming methods are reviewed. Lectures are supplemented with actual
program writing.
Objectives:
Architecture and fundamentals of a BEST++ program
BEST++ statements and syntax rules
How to write programs in the PC programmers environment
Basic debugging techniques and basic documentation techniques
Audience:

Prerequisites:
CCN-101, CCN-301
Computer program writing skills are helpful but not necessary. It is highly recommended that the student have an intimate working
knowledge of the Comfort Controller algorithms. This is typically defined as one who has worked with, programmed and debugged
algorithms within a Comfort Controller for at least one year.

CCN-401 - iVu Standard 2-Days


This training session is designed to introduce i-Vu Carrier webbased product made up of hardware and software that enables end
users and contractors the ability to interface with a Carrier Comfort Network (CCN) using Internet Explorer. The course provides
opportunity for technicians to set-up and operate i-Vu CCN Standard connected to an application specific controller using Internet
Explorer. The objectives will be accomplished using a combination of class discussion and a series of hands on class exercises.
Objectives:
Install, set-up and configure an i-Vu Standard interface and connect to it using a standard IE browser. The basics of IP addressing
and interfacing i-Vu into an Internet/Intranet will be taught.
Understand the operation and system navigation rules of i-Vu by using an application-specific controller.
Use ViewBuilder to modify existing application-specific default graphic to add or remove points modify and set up various methods of
time of day scheduling, set points, set up of alarms and various displays of system information including using real time graphic
displays all from an Intranet browser.
Use ViewBuilder to add points from an application-specific controller to a custom graphic like a floor plan.
Basic alarm management and operation including set-up, acknowledging, and deleting of alarms. This instruction includes the setup
of e-mails and the Alarm Notification Client software.
Set up trending data operation of i-Vu.
Set up and develop management reports to include schedules reporting, commissioning summary report, security reporting and
various alarm summary and alarm history reports.
Generate a site specific back-up and restore i-Vu to factory default from this back-up
Access and use the maintenance tool functions built into i-Vu.

This course provides an opportunity for experienced technicians to set-up and operate a Standard CCN i-Vu product connected to a
CC6400 Comfort Controller using Internet Explorer.

Understand the operation and system navigation rules of i-Vu with a CC6400 Comfort Controller
Use ViewBuilder to add points from an CC6400 Controller to a custom graphics
