Heartiest Congratulations! You now own your own Chromebook!

Before you begin to explore your device and get carried away in this magical digital world, let us
take you through to some of the very important and required essential details.
As you know we live in a digital world, where we are perpetually connected with each other;
therefore, it is important to acknowledge the role of ICT skills that will help us become
responsible digital citizen, and responsible producers and consumers of knowledge.
We have got an earlier exposure to the digital devices / internet that gravitates our attention more
towards online forms of expression. Hence, it is duty to think critically, behave safely, and
participate responsibly in our digital world.
The essential agreements related to the usage of chromebook listed below, will help you to
become a responsible digital citizen.

Section 1: Responsible Behaviour

I agree that I am solely responsible for using any apps. on my Chromebook. Any inappropriate
material will result into disciplinary action.
I agree to treat all the Chromebook equipment respectfully and appropriately.
I agree not to use the Chromebook in the bus.
I agree not try to locate others password or create any false identity on digital network.
I agree not to open or make changes to another persons work without permission.
I agree to be careful with my words and language while communicating with other. I will
remember, that our digital world is permanent and with each post/comment we are building our
digital footprint.
I agree to think before I interact with my friends or with strangers, in order to become famous,
using any site
I agree to create positive online community that promotes responsible and respectful digital
behaviour within the class and outside school.
I agree to demonstrate respect for myself and for others.
I will remember that food or drink is not recommended near or on the Chromebook.
I agree not to carry Chromebook while the screen is open
I agree not to carry Chromebook by the screen.
I agree not lean on top of the Chromebook or keep any resources, that could put pressure on
the screen.
I agree to change my account password every 3 months or as required.

Section 2: Password and Accounts

I agree that my teachers and parents have rights to access my account.
I agree to share my personal password with my parents only.
I agree not to try to find out someone elses password.
I agree not to log into someone elses account without permission.

 I agree not to use my parents gmail account.

I agree to report to my teacher in case if I come across that someone has logged into my
account without permission.
I agree to logout from my account when not in use.
I agree that as per the google age restriction, I cannot create my personal gmail account. If I
do so, I am violating the act and putting myself at risk.

Section 3: Internet use

I agree to give credit to the source of information.
I agree to visit websites that are for school projects.
I agree to explore websites that builds a positive learning community
I agree to remember that everything I read online may not be true.
I agree to evaluate the site / check for reliability before taking any information.
I agree that personal information often is safe to share. But I should never share private
information without the permission of a parent, guardian, or teacher.
I agree to use free and open source alternatives rather than pirating softwares.
General Guidelines:
Duration of usage

Sustained usage may be

continuous work periods of 30-60
minutes
Extended usage may be
continuous work periods of >1 hour

Postures

It is important you maintain a good posture,

with a particular focus on:
Back
Neck and shoulders
Arms and forearms
Wrists and hands

Awkward positions

Sustained or Extended use while adopting

awkward postures is generally not
recommended. For the purposes of this
document, awkward postures may include:
sitting on the bed
sitting cross legged
standing, sitting and leaning
against a wall with the Chromebook on
flexed knees
slouching whilst seated

Rest breaks

It is generally recommended that rest breaks

are taken for at least 5 minutes for every 30
minutes of Chromebook use

Consequences
If I dont follow any of the above essential agreements , I understand that the following may
happen:
I will revisit all the essential agreements and procedures and routines with my
teacher. My teacher will counsel me for the same

 My parents will be notified of the misbehaviour.

My Chromebook will be confisticated for 2 days. I will have to leave the CB at
school..
If I continue to break essential agreements, there will be disciplinary actions.
By signing this agreement
I accept that I have read the above essential agreements
I agree to follow these essential agreements
I promise to act in a responsible and ethical manner.
I understand the consequences for breaking any of the essential agreement.

principles of digital citizenship as outlined in this agreement. I also accept that failing to follow
these terms may result in consequences according to the school discipline policy, including (but
not limited to) the restriction of/termination of my Chromebook access.
