NOTES
1.

For location of anchor block, reference Operating Procedure 80.205, Acetylene Welded or Dresser Coupled Lines.

2.

Anchoring sleeve to be fabricated and furnished per Engineering Standard 4803:

[ ] by Company
[ ] by Contractor

3.

Anchoring sleeve to be installed:

[ ] by Company
[ ] by Contractor

If anchoring sleeve is to be installed on a pressurized pipeline by contractor, authorization by

District Manager is required. Rules governing work on pressurized lines must be followed,
i.e., Dresser coupled or acetylene welded lines.

4.

All excavation performed and anchor block fabricated by contractor.

5.

Concrete and rebar for anchor block furnished by contractor.

6.

Anchor block excavation to be done by hand in undisturbed earth.

7.

Installation of anchoring sleeve to be completed and concrete to be thoroughly cured prior to placing any lateral load
on anchor block. Allow concrete to cure six (6) days if Type I cement is used or two (2) days if Type III.

8.

If two (2) blocks are required, the minimum separation between blocks shall be four (4) times the distance from
grade to bottom of the block.

9.

Recompact to its original compaction level any disturbed soil within the first 30 feet from each anchor block
towards the tie-in point prior to placing any lateral load on anchor block.

10.
*

fc = The compressive strength of the concrete = 3,000 psi

fy = The yield strength of the reinforcing steel = 60,000 psi

11.

Blocks have been dimensioned and designed to withstand the pulling force of unrestrained, mechanically-coupled
lines at a maximum pressure of 600 psig.
