Physics 11

Expectation Rules
The expectations, rules, procedures and consequences of my classroom are intended to keep the
classroom environment safe, orderly, and productive. Please respect the rules so that we can maximize
learning time together. Thank you for your cooperation!

1.

Respect yourself, the teacher & others:

Show respect for the teacher, yourself, others, and property at all times.
Respect yourself and the rest of us by using appropriate language.

2.

Be prepared for class each day:

An organized class binder containing all necessary materials and handouts.
Pens (blue or black), pencils, a three-ringed binder with enough paper, and a calculator.

3.

Need extra help:

I encourage you to come and see me for help whenever you feel that you need it.
I am usually available before class.

4.

Turn off cell phones & electronic devices:

Electronic devices (CD players, iPod, handheld games, mini-TVs or personal DVD
players, cell phones, pagers, etc.) are NOT permitted in my classroom.
Cell Phones should be turned off and invisible during the class period.

5.

Arrive to class on time & ready to learn:

Arrive to class on time with all your supplies or you will be marked late.

Bring all necessary materials every day.

6.

Do not cheat, plagiarize, or copy work:

Cheating is completely unacceptable. If I see you cheating on any assignment, even for
another class, I will give you a zero for my classroom work and report the incident to
the other teacher as well as your assistant principal and parents.

7.

Food and Drink:

8-

Snacks are allowed during the lecture, but there can be no mess.
Gum is permitted provided I do not hear it or see it.
Drinks are permitted BUT no spilling, please.

Assignments:
The majority of class assignments will be out of the textbook, with the occasional
worksheet which will be posted on the website if you are absent. Daily assignments

will be given and you are expected to complete them to the best of your ability before
the next class.
There will be random homework checks to ensure that you are practicing the material.

9- Tests and quizzes:

Attendance is essential for optimal learning. Being on time and present in class both
physically and mentally will be part of your overall grade.

If you miss a class, you can keep up to date by checking the website for that days
notes and assignment. You should try to keep up so that you are as ready as possible
by the start of the next class, just in case there is a quiz.

Make arrangements to take any missed quizzes and tests immediately. It is your
responsibility to make these arrangements, I will not and cannot track you down.

UNEXCUSED absences (parents did not phone the office) on the day of an
assignment, test, quiz, project, presentation, paper, etc. will result in a zero.

You will be given the opportunity to rewrite any target test to improve your mark,
however, rewriting a chapter test is a privilege, not a right. If you would like to rewrite
a chapter test, you must demonstrate that you have prepared for the test by completing
all the homework and quizzes for that chapter.

Tests are worth MOST of your grade and will be given on every unit/chapter. You will
be informed of a test at least two classes in advance.

I may quiz you on the homework given last class. Therefore, it is your responsibility to
do your homework in order to do well on the hwk-quiz.

If a hwk-quiz is failed, I may omit it if you show me completed homework.

10- Course Evaluation:

Tests / Quizzes

Hwk / Labs / Projects 30%

70%
