Topic: Find the Opposite

Objectives:

To ensure that the students understand the meaning of antonyms.


To boost the students memory.
To increase the understanding and knowledge of vocabulary.

Teaching aids:

Manila cards
Marker pen
Ticker

Procedure:
i.

First of all, we will divide all the students into three groups, two groups

ii.

consisted of 5 students and the third group consisted of 4 students.


Then, we will scatter all the manila cards with two different colours, yellow and
white colour on the table. There are ten yellow cards with each consisted of
different words and these words are the antonyms to another group of words

iii.

written on ten white cards.


The game will be started with a student from each group taking turns to the
table to select one yellow card and one white card from all 20 cards placed.
Then, the student looks at the words written on both of the chosen cards and
if both of these words are not the antonym of the other, then he or she needs
to turn back the cards close down. However, if both of these words are the
right antonyms for each other, then he or she can take back the cards. Each

group takes turn to choose the cards until all the cards are finish.
Finally, each group needs to paste the cards chosen just now on a whiteboard
and one mark will be counted for each correct pairs of antonym words. The
group with the highest marks will be rewarded.

Rules and regulations:

Each student should choose the cards without looking at the words written on

After a student finds out that the words from both of different colours of cards
are not opposite to each other, they should put back the cards to their original
