FS Bodywork design
The idea behind this project was to
design Bodywork for the
Formula
Student car of the University of
Portsmouth by using an innovative
Engineering design tool called Freestyle
Surface modelling.
The main idea was to prove that
Freestyle surfacing is indeed of great use
for formula students as it can successfully
provide with smooth and continuous Alevel curves while combining freestyle
with parametric modelling.
The model was achieved with the use of
3D CAD software PTC CREO 3.0. Created
in Oct 2014.

Thesis project design (Cranfield University)

The following document is the MSc Automotive Engineering
Individual Research Project undertaken at Cranfield University:
The thesis involved investigating modelling approaches to
determine interface pressure distributions for a specific brake.
Computer models were developed using ABAQUS FE code, with
boundary conditions while addressing mechanical actuating and
friction loading. The influence of pad wear pattern on interface
pressure was also studied.
Analysis showed that, for a fivefold decrease in material
stiffness (from 10000 to 2000 MPa) and 20% decrease in back
plate thickness (from 5 to 4mm), changing the back plate
material from steel to aluminium alloy, high similarities in
contact length were found. These results additionally
reconfirmed investigations carried out by the studies on brake
pressure distributions carried out Tirovic and Day 1991 and
studies of flexural effects on brake pads carried out by Harding
and Wintle in 1978.

Truck Design
Currently a design project, held in
Cranfield University, which is about
converting a High mobility 6x6
commercial vehicle Bucher Mowag Duro
2 into an electric hybrid vehicle, by
keeping the existing diesel engine.
As an optional individual task, the main
components of the truck were designed,
in order to have a much better
visualization of the vehicle at the time of
inserting the electrical components.
I would personally go to the real truck
and make measurements on many
several components in order to provide
with a conceptual design that could
demonstrate
realistic
and
representative
visualizations.
Successfully achieved a first (77%).
Created in Nov 2015.

Chassis Jigs
Design of the Jigs for the chassis of the
Formula Student car of the University of
Portsmouth using 3D CAD software PTC
CREO Parametric. Created in Nov 2014.

Portable domestic vehicle

loading/unloading device
Conceptual loading/unloading portable
device that could:

Exclude human force

Be stow within the vehicle
Non electric powered

Being one of the first personal 3D CAD

models ever created. Created in Nov
2012.

Crankshaft Design
The main objective for this Crankshaft
design was to prove the efficiency and
well understanding of the use of CATIA
V5 in Cranfield University.
The idea of designing a Crankshaft was
selected as it would involve different
varieties of design approaches in order
to approach the final design. A score of
82% was achieved for this university
coursework
Created in Nov 2015.

Side vents Design

Conceptual side vents designed for the
Cobra 427 Replica at ZS Automotive.
Created in March 2015.

Gearbox design
A small Gearbox design coursework of
the University of Portsmouth, created in
Jan 2013. The small gearbox seen on the
picture was successful concept design
made by a selection the gears according
to the materials and prices. Successfully
graded a first for the design and
rendering of the gearbox assembly.

Vehicle Hubs
A proposed personal task of measuring
a vehicles rear and front hub and
doing 3D CAD models for the
respective pieces in order to further
improve my CAD design skills. Created
in Feb 2015.
