About this guide:
This is a result of monthes of modding Skyrim. Initially I wanted just to make m
y mod list as people asked for this at my YT channel, but then I decided to put
some more efforts into this and make a complete guide to save other people time
that they can have a complete base list of mods for ultrarealistic graphics, kno
wing how much these mods will affect on performance and in what order they shoul
d install the mods. Skyrim have thousand of mods here at Nexus and there's very
hard to check them all, but I spent some time and did this - from the 1st till t
he last page (I'm not joking hehe) of all the graphic mods here and chosen almos
t everything you need to transform your game and also to have some variants of s
imilar mods to choose from. List of 250+ mods (but at the same time "quality abo
ut quantity", including different variants to choose from) to install to make yo
ur Skyrim graphics look nextgen and to leave as few ugly vanilla objects as poss
ible. Install order, performance influence and patches list included.
The mod list consists of two parts. Mods from the first part should be installed
in strict install order. Mods from the second part can be actually installed in
any isntall order, but to have the best result I kindly advise to install them
in the same order as in the guide. Check the video to watch it. Also you can che
ck the videos at the bottom of this page to see how the game looks with all thes
e mods installed :) All the mods are marked with 3 colors. Green means this mod
is pretty FPS-friendly, Yellow - it can affect performance, but still not an FPS
-killer, and Red mods are really FPS-hungry. Please also note that this guide is
still designed for modern rigs. I have GTX 980 4GB and 16GB RAM and running all
these mods with ENB having 60 fps indoors and 40-55 outdoors. If you like this

me any compatibility or stability questions (I'm running Skyrim without any cras

== HOW TO START MODDING/STABILITY ==
1) Download and install mod manager.
Choose between Nexus Mod Manager http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/modmanager
/? and Mod Organizer http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1334/?. Both of them a
re awesome. I personally use NMM. Almost all mods can (and should) be installed
via mod manager. The guide contains notices when you'll need to install some mod
/ part of mod manually.
2) Download and install SKSE http://skse.silverlock.org/. If you allready have i
t - great, if no - install it. It's obligatory.
SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender) is must-have for playing modded Skyrim. Most of al
l popular gameplay mods need it to be installed. Also, almost all memory/stabili
ty tweaks and fixes require it. Install it to your Skyrim root directory (not th
e data folder), where your TESV.exe is. Important! From this time, you should la
unch and play your Skyrim only using SKSE.exe. Skyrim launcher will be used only
for disabling/enabling mods (but this also can be done via mod manager).
3) Go to Speed and Stability Guide page http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/502
14/?. Download and install SKSE.ini from it's optional files (this can be done b
y mod manager).

Important! Even if you will not use the ENB, you still need to install it.
4) Download and install LOOT https://loot.github.io/.
LOOT is a must-have tool if you planning to have many mods. It's very easy to in
stall and use.
His most basic and important function is mod sorting. Many mods should be loaded
in strict load order. This mod should be loaded before that mod, but after that
, and so on. LOOT makes miracles! You can automatically sort all your mods prope
rly by just clicking button 2 times. Sometimes (it happens rare, so mostly you w
on't to think about it) some mods have direct instructions about how they should
be loaded, in this case it's also easy to sort them manually using it. Also, LO
OT shows you all you need to know about your mods instlalled - errors, missing r
ecords, incompatibility etc. If something is not right - it will let you know an
d it will advise you. Actually, you'll not need to read and lean more than this
to use it, but if something is unclear or you want to look at very in-depth guid

. Use LOOT sorting each time after you've installed a few mods.
5) Download TES5edit http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25859/?.
It's an awesome tool for cleaning your mods. Mods may contain "dirty" records an
d some other issues. And when you will have hundreds of mods, that could be a pr
oblem and cause crashed. This step and tools usage are not obligatory, but stron
gly recommended. Don't be afraid of it, it's not so hard to use as it may look.

6) Install SSME http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305/?.
SSME (Skyrim Startup Memory Editor) is a must-have and awesome tool for make Sky
rim allocate more memory. The result is better performance and stability. You ne
ed to install it manually. Download it, unzip and Place d3dx9_42.dll and ssme.in
i in your root Skyrim folder where your TESV.exe is (not the Data subfolder). Re
ad description on its page to make sure it's working.
7) Install Crash Fixes http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72725/?.
It's new, constantly updated and just criminally underrated SKSE plugin! It's li
ght-weight, one-click to install (using mod manager) and it really works great.
You'll notice faster loading and zero or almost zero crashes if using SSMSE and
this one. Install it for sure!
8) Read this article http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48387/?. This is not o
bligatory, but it works and it's very useful.
IMPORTANT! Use its settings only if you're 100% understand what you're doing. Me
ssing with these values is not a joke. If you think you're something is unclear
for you, don't use it.
9) Download Save game script cleaner http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52363/
?.
This is not obligatory. If you will not uninstall scripted mods in the middle of
playthrough, you don't need it. It's just a save cleaner if your save is really
near to dead cause of orphan scripts.
Congrats, you're ready now. Let's begin!
PART I:
Before you start, download this little software:

DDS VIEWER http://ddsviewer.com/

It's a free, small and awesome tool that allows you to open .dss (texture) files
just like any other images. Doing this, you can compare same textures from diff
erent mods and decide which one to install. It's a must-have tool.
=========
Important tip #1: during the installation process, overwrite all the files when
you will be notified about this. There will be a few cases when you not need to
overwrite some files or you need to install texture partially/manually, but I wi
ll notify about it.
Important tip #2: To install 200 mods and then launch your game is not a best id
ea. I personally recommend to do in this way: install a few mods (let's say 2-4
if these mods are big, 5-10 if small), sort them with LOOT, launch your game, ch
eck it's stable. Install 5 more and so on.
Important tip #3: Don't use 4k textures untill you have 4k monitor with 4xSLI Ti
tan videocards and you're not aiming for screenarchery (like shoting a bugs or l
eaves). You won't see any difference between 4k and 2k textures until you come a
bsolutely closely to them. 2k is perfect option for 1920 and even higher (2k) mo
nitors. Using 4k you'll waste tonns of VRAM but won't notice this actually. Usin
g 2k will save tonns of VRAM and you're still having beautiful textures. The onl
y where you can install 4k textures are interior cells (caves/mines etc) as inte
rior use much less VRAM and some underground creature retextures (Dwemer/Falmer)
due to the same reasons.

This mod is very optional to install. It adds tonns of different insects to Skyr
im making it look much more alive. Someone may like this, someone not.
Also my personal opinion is that it boosts Alchemy too much as you can collect h
undreds of ingredients per minutes and some of new potions from these ingredient
s are a bit overpowered. But there's a patch to fix this and bring some balance,

This mod is optional, but it's absolutely awesome and my personal recommendation
is at leas to try it!
It is a project which aims to improve Skyrim's landscape with more objects. This
includes floral objects, rocks, ruin clutter and a lot of other landscape asset
s. This also aims to improve the distant appearance of mountains, cliffs and oth
er rock formations. As it mostly adds objects, it's compatible with almost all t
exture mods, there are only a few noticesfrom mod author (whic hare not critical
though), read them at this mod page. It has smart installer with many options (
and resolution options, that's important) and there are also 2 version of it - r
egular and winter edition.
Note: this mod requires only one mod (which you've likely using if you're follow

Important: such mods are mostly compatible, but as most of them change many NPCs
, you can have situation when you want to install two mods, but they change some

Follow these steps to install ENB and make memory and settings tweaks'n'tricks f
or stable game:
1) Turn off the effects that will be replaced by ENB.
Open SKyrim launcher and turn off Antialiasing, Anisotropic Filtering, and FXAA.
In your video driver, set the features from previous step and Ambient Occlusion
(SSAO) to "Application-Controlled" (Nvidia) or "Use application settings" (AMD).
2) Download ENB core files here http://enbdev.com/download_mod_tesskyrim.html:
Read your ENB preset description page and download the latest version if it supp
orts it. If no, download the needed one. Place Copy d3d9.dll AND enbhost.exe fro
m the wrapper folder to your Skyrim root folder, where your TESV.exe is (not the

3) Open your Skyrimprefs.ini (with notepad for example).

There are so many of them, beautiful and stunning! Yeah, if you're still not dec
ied, it will be a hard task ;) My personal recommendation is to click on "last u
pdated" option to sort the preset pages, as many of "most endorsed" presets are
outdated. But of course it's up to you.
Different presets have different types and amount of files, usually you need to
install them manually, sometimes they have an installer. But I still recommend t
o install any ENB preset files manually. Read the chosen ENB preset page attenti
vely.
5) Download and install ENBoost http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38649/?. If
you're using latest ENB, update it with the newest ENBoost fixes http://www.nex

In most of cases, you won't need to change many in enblocal.ini. You need to set

videocard. To make this task easier if you don't know your total amount of vide

To choose an ENB preset is absolutely matter of taste. However, in this list I'v
e included the most fresh presets that work with latest ENB binaries.
Remember that ENB itself will eat some FPS almost at any rig. Sometimes it can c
ost you 3-5 FPS (so we can say you have no performance loss) up to 15-20 FPS (th
is can cause massive stutters and FPS drops). That's why I advise to install ENB
after all the texture and other mods that can affect performance. If you see tha
t you have let's say stable 60 FPS - you can run almost any ENB preset, even hun
gry one and be sure that your game will be stable and you will not face
noticable stutters and FPS drops. But if you have 40 FPS you'll need to think ab
out the ENB - to install performance-friendly one, not to install ENB at all or
maybe disable some texture mods to free some VRAM and then install the ENB.
All presets are also markered with one of 3 colors so you'll be aware if this or
that preset is an FPS-killer. And of course short description and weather/light
ing mods compatibility tips.

ble at ENB preset page, you can try this. This doesn't mean it will be 100% comp
atible, but basicaly it will have better compatibility results.
About DOF: most of ENBs has DOF (depth of field) enabled and tweaked for this pr
eset. Some people like DOF, some don't like at all, but ENB DOF also can eat dec
ent amount of FPS. If you find your preset DOF not good for you or need to have
a few more FPS, do the following: 1) disable ENB DOF. Open enbseries.ini filem l
ook at [EFFECT] section and change EnableDepthOfField=true to EnableDepthOfField
=false. Save the file. 2) Optional: install Dynavision http://www.nexusmods.com/
skyrim/mods/12525. It's great mod for DOF and it has MCM menu so you can change
it's type (static or dynamic) and strength ingame.

Many of you know the famous and great Realvision. I've played with it for a long
time too. The only thing is original Realvision is outdated atm, doesn't suppor
t latest binaries and COT v.5. This author made just an awesome work
and updated it for COT 5 as well as did some other updates. Also during he shoul
d update it to latest binaries (.305), but you can use it with .305 already actu
ally. If you like how Realvision looked, you should defenitely try this one.

Lighting mods compatibility: ELFX, RLO. Relighting Skyrim + ELE Lite was reporte
d to also work good, but it's not supported by author.

Awesome, stunning, beautiful! This ENB is a brilliant creation. It looks great,
realistic and fantasy-like at the same time. Original version has about 80 custo
m weathers. It's pretty saturated so some people can find it less lore-friendly
for Skyrim. But my personal advise is to try it for sure! It also has 3 levels o
f performance options. It also has 3 versions - original preset, version for Viv
id Weathers and version for NLVA. This is a preset I'm currently using (version
for VW).
Weather mods compatibility: Vanilla weathers (original version), VW, NLVA (diffe
rent version have different weather mod compatibility).
Lighting mods compatibility: Relighting Skyrim + ELE Lite (compatible, but not n
