Handwriting focus on correct letter formation, spacing, using
notebook paper, and proper positioning of pencil and paper
WCPSS & Lucy Calkins writing workshop format - Using the writing
process

Planning (think and create a short, focused plan-web or list)

Drafting (put ideas into sentences)
Revising (reread and make changes to make it better)
Editing (spelling and grammar)
Publishing (perfection!)
-Style/genre - narrative, non-fiction, imaginative, letters,
poetry, etc.

Letterland - Phonics program
Weekly test, but, most important is
daily use of correct spelling

Readers Workshop
Explicit teaching and modeling of reading

independent practice, partner practice,
individual conferencing, small group work,
and sharing
