VIII. Summary:
Living things multiply their own kind through reproduction. Human
being reproduces sexually. Male reproductive system consist sexual organs
that work together to produce and deposit sperm cells to the womans body.
These male reproductive organs are: testes, epididymis, vas deferens,
prostate gland, penis, urethra and scrotum.
On the other hand female reproductive system is designed to
accommodate the sperm cells and nourish the fertilized egg cell in her
womb. Female reproductive organs are ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus,
vagina, cervix, and vulva.

height and weight at the age of 10-16 years old.
2. Both of them undergo physical changes differently.
3. Male produces more sperm cells and girls are releasing matured egg
cell every 28th days which made them capable for reproduction.
4. Growth hormone mixes up with blood of both boys and girls which is
responsible for rapid physical growth and development of both primary
and secondary sex characteristics.
5. Changes are not only in its physical growth but also in their feelings
and emotion that leads to social and personality development.

New life begins at fertilization inside the mothers reproductive tract
known as fallopian tube. It occurs when one matured egg cell released from
one of the ovaries joins or unite with one sperm cell. The fertilized egg or
zygote undergoes repeated cell division, as it travels down to the uterus or
womb. This is the beginning of pregnancy or gestation. However if zygote
fails to implant itself other than the uterus; such pregnancy is called ectopic
pregnancy.
Zygote becomes an embryo after a series of cell division. Embryo is
connected to the placenta by the umbilical cord. All materials needed by the

. Summary:
1. Fertilization is the union of the egg cell and the sperm cell in the
fallopian tube.
2. Only one sperm cell successfully unites and fertilizes the egg cell.
3. The fertilized egg cell moves down to the uterus and undergoes cell
division for development
4. Fertilized egg is called a zygote
5. During the first 2 months of pregnancy, the unborn child is called an
embryo. It is in this period in which body organs are developed.
6. The embryo is protected by a sac of liquid called amniotic fluid. This
liquid that keeps the embryo moist is called amniotic liquid
7. Placenta allows the exchange of materials for life and waste between
the mother and the embryo.
8. Embryo is connected to the placenta by an umbilical cord.
9. On the 9th weeks of pregnancy, the embryo becomes a fetus. It is in the
period wherein the human being is completed. It has its own body
organ such as, nose, eyes, ears, hands and other organs.

Lesson 5.
Genitals
Introduction:
Hello young learners! Have you experienced any disorder with your
reproductive organ?
Like that of the other body organs, our reproductive systems are also
prone to infection and other diseases. In this module you will learn how to
take good care of your external reproductive organs. You will perform
activities that will help you understand the importance of personal hygiene.
At the end of the lesson you should be able to:
Objectives:
1. Explain the importance of front to back washing of the vagina.
2. Retraction of the foreskin of the penis to clean the secretions around the
glands.
3. Practice proper use and disposal of sanitary napkins
