Classroom description: classroom is poorly windy. It is small (classroom 411). There are
24 chairs, a TV set with a computer. There is a blackboard in a face of the classroom. It is
so warm. There are two pictures about images of foreign countries.
Class description: some students have arrived before teacher. It is 18:05 and teacher has
not arrived. There are six students. Teacher arrives and he says today we are having our
quiz. There are seven students: five boy and two girls. Teacher asks about how do students
feel after vacations?. He explains about a workshop for solving in class after quiz. The
workshop begins and students asked the question about pronunciation.
A boy named Felipe asks about the pronunciation and he explains his opinions about some
problems that language presents. They are working in pairs and students are doing the
workshop about stress.
Teacher begins the quiz asking who wants to begin and Felipe starts. Teacher took a chair
and Felipe another one. They went out to classroom to evaluate. Time runs and students are
practicing with sheet. After five minutes the next student went out for examination.
At the beginning, students were anxious but by the time teacher made atmosphere more
confortable. It's 18:27. And sun sets. The three pairs formed by students are working on the
workshop teacher gave them mean they are out exanimating the other student.
At 6:34 a girl named Caroline arrived. And she asked about the quiz. Felipe is explaining
how the interview in the quiz was. .He said teacher asked about what was the difference
between take over and take cover.
Students always speak in English but Caroline always speaks in Spanish. They continue
working in pairs and Caroline begins to work with a partner. Nevertheless some students
are anxious for the examination. Boys speak every time in English about particularities of
English. I note the test consists on read a piece of paper.
At 6: 43 another boy named Fredy arrives. Carolyne and Fredy every time speak in
Spanish. After 7:00 oclock some students begin to speak about other different things. The
class is boring said some students in class. A student asks if he could leave classroom.
At 7:26 students began to put their things in their bags.
At 7:30 teacher finishes examination and he entered the classroom and he said that the idea
of today was practicing word-stress, how regularize pronunciation and how students
internalized the rules.

Teacher begins with salutations. He asked if students had received an e-mail about a
podcast. There are six students in the classroom and the weather is hot. They observe how
teacher explain homework about a podcast. After he explains after podcast exercise he said
students need to choose a topic for a speech in class.
At 18: 15 two students arrive. Teacher asked that why were they reluctant. They laughed
because teacher said that Saturday was deadline to sending homework and an student said if
its is possible until Saturday midnight. Teacher said yes, but only until Saturday midnight.
After that teacher asked what was a focus word and he mentioned that for today the topic
was in Well Said book.
Teacher explains about the differences between putting the accent at the beginning on a
sentence and putting accent at the end. He explains about the different meanings, the way in
which we put accent in sentences determines meanings. He gives them an example: I did
not say Paul take the money.
Teacher gives them different examples of pronunciation and he asks for the meaning. He
explains again the activity with podcast and he speaks about it. The podcast is about
pollution. Everybody listen the recording. Teacher explains how a word or a sentence after
or before a phrase changes the meaning of a sentence.
After that, Felipe says that he finds two different content words, which must carry the
stress. Teachers asks how is possible or what is the intentions of a speaker behind the
words. Fredy arrives at 6:37.
Teacher is joking about were the new changes in the speech about the politically correct as
Colombianos and Colombianas. Students laugh. Teacher explains which were the speakers
intentions when they change the stress on sentences. He says intonation is the music of
language. He explains how babies realize intonation before they learn to speak. He explains
how intonantions are due to regional differences. Teacher continue with jocks about
intonations and so he creates an interesting and well climate to learne.
After some minutes, teacher asks about what happens with wh-questions after having
explained information questions intonation. Sooner, teacher gives them photocopies for
practicing intonation and stress on the phrases. He asks students about stress but nobody
answers. So, teacher says certain day he will do a quiz because they do not study at home.
Teacher request some student for starting to read and other one for correct him. Each
student begins with a phrase and according with the examples, teacher explains how did,
do, and does are used to emphasize the speaker information.

Teacher says student to practice at home and Carolyne interrupted for asking information.
Againt teacher says students to study about word stress and rhythm and says them about
study neutral stress for next class.
After, teacher jocks with taxi-driver words and he animates students to participate. Teacher
always jocks with phrases and plays with language.
Finally, teacher explains how a combination of two sounds produce a third sound. Teacher
asks them for answers some exercises on the photocopies. Two students leave the
classroom: the first one because cellphone rings.
Finally teacher ask them to postpone a class and he says goodbye.

Classroom atmosphere: Around the classroom we can listen voices from other
classrooms. Classroom is so hot because is mall and poor airy.
