Thanks you very much for giving me opportunity to present my dissertation in
public.
As required by our institute, every fourth year a student must conduct a research
project and present it in public for the award of bachelors degree.
It is therefore, the researcher has conducted a research titled contribution of
communication to employees performance in private institution a case
study of KICUKIRO District for period 2011-2013. In Rwanda and worldwide the
communication constitutes a pivot element on development. Rwandas system
as in the whole Africa in general needs constant improvement.
However the role of communication has impact on performance, but some
enterprises do not consider it, as essential contributing factor.
Where some manager seem do not consider the lower works while making
decisions, there is also no closer relationship between the lower works and
managers the long-term and short term affect ineffectiveness of communication
that can destroy any organization as well as the official language (English,
French, Kinyarwanda and Kiswahili) use seems those are not well known by all
users.

Communication plays a vital role in the from success of any organizational is

qualified as the process of transferring meaning from one person to another in
the form of idea or information, It user the chain of understanding that links
members of various units of organization at different lever. The sender and
receiver use certain skills-speaking, writing, listening and reading to make
exchange of meaning successful.
Performance is consider as the result of application mental effort; performance
levels can stated in different ways in terms of quality or quantity and may some
subjectivity judgment by a manager , a particular level of performance may be
judged as high for a person ,but the some level may be only satisfactory or
perhaps unsatisfactory for another.
The present research project is divided into five chapters:
Chapter one
Present general introduction.
The second chapter
Is focusing on literature review is based the various views of scholars.
The third chapter
Talks about methodology employed in data collection.
Fourth chapter
Like poor listening one another, being shameful when speaking with others due
to the different background were highlighted in the company
Thus, the present study indicated that the effective communication enhanced
more the production of the institution like employees and staff members
confirmed.
Conclusion
The findings obtained through the research, revealed that effective
communication contributes more to the performance of private companies in
Rwanda.

The study revealed that most of language used in KICUKIRO District is

Kinyarwanda even if there is some communication barriers caused of many
languages spoken in the company like English, Kiswahili and French. Findings
show that research indicated that within KICUKIRO District, writings are more
used than other types of channels and memos are written in English.
Finally, the study has indicated that there is some communication barriers in the
company which are caused by different background of employees and the lack of
training in foreigners languages.

Apart from that Recommendation was drawn on behalf of KICUKIRO District as
follow:

a) KICUKIRO District should organize some training for its employees

especially in English so as to facilitate the effective communication
among its employees,
b) KICUKIRO DISTRICT should motivate its employees in using foreign
languages either English or French so that they can converse with all
types of people.
c) Top management of KICUKIRO DISTRICT should be the one to
motivate employees by creating, some opportunities like meetings,
sharing food and drinks specifically on
Moreover areas for further research was suggested as the present study has
not been broadened due to some hindering factors like time and financial
constraints; it is therefore proposed that future research should be carried out
on : The analysis of contribution of communication to employees
performance in public institution or The analysis of the communication
barriers in private institutions in Rwanda or The role of communication in
enhancing performance in non-government organizations in Rwanda.

in this view that there should be some small mistakes done in this research

I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to all those who
directly place, I would like to than almighty GOD who generously gave me the
strength, health and other resources to successfully accomplish this research.

In collection of primary data secondary data relevant to the study, some
research techniques have been used, this include questionnaire and interview; in
order to obtain representative sample, purpose sampling was used to select 121
as respondents from a total population of 585 employees of KICUKIRO District.
The collected data were analysed and presented in the tables and the
interpretation was done accordingly,
The study revealed that communication contributes more to the employees
performance in private institutions in Rwanda.
Findings revealed that KICUKIRO District employed qualified, competent and
experienced employees in their respective attributions. Also the research has
indicated that these employees are in difference ages.
Also the research indicated that employees of KICUKIRO District use mostly
Kinyarwanda language among other languages spoken in the company including
Kiswahili, English and French. It was shown that there are many forms of
communication in KICUKIRO District like written, verbal, non-verbal

communication. Additionally, findings have revealed that upward, horizontal,

diagonal and downward communications are used within company.
The research showed that communication in KICUKIRO District is done by using
different channels of like e-mail, telephone, writings, meeting and website;
writings are mostly used within the company.
Also some Communication barriers Concerns with data analysis and
interpretation while the last one are concludes and provides suggestions

The research questions

The present research was carried out by focusing on the following questions:

What are the communication barriers faced by KICUKIRO District?
Does communication of KICUKIRO District affected performance?
How communication shall be improved loward performance?

My special thanks go to the INILAK and its administration and to the entire staff
of the faculty of economic sciences and management especially department of
Finance, lecturers and library staff who helped me during my research.
I kindly present my great thanks to my supervisor Pelly MURUNGI for his constant
encouragements that helped in the protection of the present research work.
