AFFIDAVIT OF PROBABLE CAUSE STATE OF TEXAS: ‘COUNTY OF ORANGE: ‘Before me, the undersigned authority in and for said county and state personally appeared Danny W. Hodges. After being duly sworn deposes and says: My name is Danny W. Hodges. I have been a peace officer forthe State of Texas for 33 yeers, T 1am employed with the City of Bridge City Police Department, Orange County, Texes, as a Detective. Ido solemnly swear and believe that Jorge Huge Elizalde-Sanche2 (W/M: DOB: 10/01/1975) on or about 14th day of September, 2016, in the County of Orange and City of. Bridge City, Texes, did then and there commit the offense of Murder. Affant’s belief is besed on the following fects: On Wednesday, September 14,2016, at approximately 6:58 P.M., officers with the Bridge City Police Depertment were dispatched to 112 Mary Avenue, Apartment A, in Bridge City, range County, Texas, in reference to a possible homicide. Upon their rival, officers located a white female lying onthe living room floor ofthe apartment. The female appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma to her upper body and heat eres. Once the officers determined they had a probeble homicide scene, they searched the residence for additional occupants/victims to no avail At7:27 pm, Bridge City Police Department Detective Sergeant Robert Bergeron arrived on the scene and identified the deceased female, hereinafter referred to as “decedent”, 4s Kara Willingham (W/F; DOB: 11/10/1988). Sergeant Bergeron met with decedent's mother, Desiree ‘Willingsam, wino was the person who discovered decedent's body. Willingham stated that decedent snd her boyftiend, Jorge Elizalde-Senchez. were having relationship problems. Sergeant Bergeron leamed that decedent and Sanchez are not married, but have two small children together, Furthermore, Sergeant Bergeron met with decedent's grandfather, Stuart Duckworth, who is the ‘owner of 112 Mary Avenue, Apartment A, and rented the apartment both decedent and Sanchez. ‘Sergeant Bergeron also learned that Sanchez and both ofthe children were notat the scene and thet whereabouts Were unknown, ‘At7:40 pm, Affiant arrived on the scene and upon eatting the residence observed decedent's ‘body lying on her back on the living room floor. Affisnt believed decedent had been deceased for nly few hours due tothe dred blood on her body and clothing. Additionally, there was partially tied blood on the floor, reclining chair, and blood spatter on the walls, Affiant observed decedent's body and noticed that her face was covered with dried blood and her heir was matted with {ried blood. Decedent's eyes were closed and her face was distorted and swollen, Affant observed ‘what appeared to be mars sround te front ofher neck. Decedent was wearing pink, short slesve, pullover shir that contained a large arount of dried blood on the shoulders, sleeves, and front of the shirt AGfant observed an unknown type of laptop computer lying just afew feet to the left of 2 eevee WUT PAL UL/OT ra URANYOR UUM PRE a2/0a decedent's body. There was a lage amount of blood onthe bottom of th lptop. Lying next tothe laptop was a power cord forthe lagtop coroputer and another three prong cord next tothe povtet cord, There appeared o be dried blood on the tree prong cord, Affiant proceeded into the ken thatis agjacentto the livingroom: where he found a noe lying onthe kitchen stove. Weiten onthe ote in Spanish and English was, "SS WME Kara lover.” Also there was a bioody shoeprnt located next to decedent's body and on the kitchen floor. At 8:30PM, Affiant was notified thata family member alerted the police thst Sanchez was seca driving a white van in the neighborhood. Sergeant Bergeron and Sergeant Richerd Teague saw ‘white, 2005, Dedge Caravan displaying Texas license plate number CY9G4S3. Sergeant Teage activated his emergency red and blve lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle did not slow down and turned off of Bellamy onto Sabine Street where it made a U-turn in the grass and ‘proceeded back towards Bellamy. Sergeant Bergeron and Sergeaat Teague drove their vehicles in front of the van where it stopped on Sabine Strect. Driving the vehicle was Sanchez. Inside the ‘hicle were decedent's two children. At first Sanchez refused to extthe vehicle bt leer complied. Sanchez was then taken into eustody for No Driver's License and No Proof of insurance. Affiant anived on the scene and asked Sanchez ifhe would allow investigators to search his residence. Sanchez verbally coosented and signed consent to search form. Sanchez also voluntary ‘gave a sample ofhis salivaand fingemsil serapings. Sanchez gave verbal and writen peraission to ‘the investigators forthe samples. Members ofthe Jefferson County Repinal Crime Laboratory were ‘otifed and responded tothe scene and took the aforementioned samples from Sanches, ‘Upon inspecting Senchez’ person, Affant observed what appeared tobe fresh sratch masks ‘onthe right side ofhis chest and scratch marks on his back, Affiant also observed what appeared to bea fiesh contusiononthe left side ofhis chest. Sanchez had an abrasion onthe top of hs lest hand. Sanchez was transported to the Orange County Distict Attorney Investigator’s O€fce for ‘ditional questioning. Sanchez was read his Miranda Waring in English and in Spanish, Sanchez indicated thet understood his rights and invoked his right tan attomy. While at the jai, Sanchez made a statement in ffont of Affiant and Lamar University Police Department Lieutenant Joe ‘Trevino that,“ did something bad and something bad happened.” Sanches then told the Affiant to come back in the morning and he would speak with me. (On Thursday, September 15,2016, at 9:20 am, Lamar University Police Department Lt. Joe ‘Trevino and I met with Jorge Sanchez inthe Orange County Sherif's Office Detective Division, Le ‘Trevino read Sanchez his Miranda Right in Spanish and in English. Sanchez wrote is initials next {ocach waming on both forms. Sanchez verbally acknowledged that he understood his rigs and agresd to waive his rights inorder to speak with us. Sanchez signed both documents indleating this. During the interview, Sanchee adaited to murdering Kara Willingham because he suspected she ashaving an atiir. Sanchez stated that on Wednesday, September 14,2016, around 3:00 am, be found photographs on decedent's cell phone of the person she was having an affair with, Sanches became angry and approached decedent who was siting in the recliner inthe living room ot thee residence. Decedent was itilizing ber laptop that was sitting on a small table. Sanchez advised thet they began to argue and that he stuck decedent on her face with his left fist. Sanchez advised that the decedent stood up and she and Sanchez began to struggle. Sanchez advised that he struck decedent in the head approximately 3 more times with his fist and they botb fell ont the floor. Sanchez advised that he ‘hen used his left hand to grab decedent by her throat and squeezed until she stopped moving. It was atthat point that he realized that he had killed her. Sanchez would not give a voluntary statement in writing; however, the interview was audio/video taped, (On Thursday, September 15,2016, an autopsy was performed the decedent a the Forensic Medical of Texas in Beaumont, Texas. The preliminary autopsy results indicated thet the decedent's ‘cause of death was Aspbyxia due to ligature and manval strangulation. In view of these facts I respectfully request that a warrant of arrest be issued for Jorge Hugo Elizalde-Sanchez, cherging this person with the offense of Murder.
