NQT Primary Partnership Programme

Innovative programme for NQTs in Newham and beyond.


This programme will support NQTs to enhance their classroom practice and to meet
the Teachers Standards.
The programme is designed and facilitated collaboratively by UCL Institute of
Education and Teaching Schools within Newham to enable NQTs to show impact in
their classroom and improve outcomes for pupils.

Module 1: Enabling outstanding


learning through quality teaching

The programme will help


NQTs to:
Gain confidence in their teaching
and their ability to meet school
and statutory expectations for
their NQT year
Build positive relationships with
pupils and develop a range of
behaviour management
strategies for dealing with
disruptive behaviour
Develop their knowledge and
skills needed to deliver an
outstanding lesson
Understand how to effectively
work with TAs and other adults
and have the tools to deal with
difficult conversations
Provide appropriate challenge for
all pupils and create a language
rich environment
Make effective use of
assessment to inform learning
and teaching

Programme Structure
This programme is informed by
national and international research.
NQTs will engage in a blend of
interactive sessions, reading,
reflection and action research.
The core programme consists of 5
modules studied over a four week
cycle. NQTs will have an opportunity
to visit host schools and to learn from
outstanding practitioners.
Intersessional tasks will be
undertaken between sessions.
To complement the core programme,
NQTs can attend a number of standalone optional sessions.

Accreditation Option
There is an option to use this
programme to gain 30 M Level
credits towards a Masters degree.
An additional cost is payable
