Ballet Play: Rebel

One of the most passionate form of art that I know is ballet. It is an
opportunity to watch a ballet play by British choreographer Martin Lawrance
and directed one of the greatest ballet enthusiast in our country, Lisa
Macuja-Elizalde. We watched the ballet play on 28 th of August 2016 in Aliw
Theatre, Pasay City.
Rebel, the title of the play, presented by Ballet Manila to
commemorate the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, main characters are
Ferdinand Marcos and his wife Imelda, Ninoy Aquino and his wife Cory, Inang
Bayan, and Juan Dela Cruz. Im amused to each ballet dancers on how they
move their feet, its like theyre dancing on air, and everytime they lift their
partners its like they are flying. Even though I cant see their facial
expression because Im far from the stage, I can feel their passion and
commitment to what theyre doing, to entertain us audiences but also to
express their feelings about the theme of the play. Even though I dont have
a background on ballet, I appreciated each characters graceful movements
and the play over-all. During the play, I am also entertained on how
Inangbayan sing some patriotic songs, how my goosebumps tickled my skin
by her voice or the background song makes me interested on the play.
In the end, when characters are taking a bow, I saw how happy they
were on performing the ballet play. I realized how much they love dancing in
front of many people, and how compassionate they were during the play. I
absolutely loved the ballet from the characters, the choreography, the
effects, etc. so I clapped my hands loudly to send my amusement to them as
the curtains fell.
