3.3 Use teaching strategies

Include a range of teaching
strategies.

Goals for first practicum.

My main goals for my first practicum have been chosen to be the base of my building blocks of
my future teaching. This will be achieved through obtaining a range of resources, strategies and
to be able to build upon my professional development.

3.4 Select and use resources

Demonstrate knowledge of a range
of resources, including ICT, that
engage students in their learning.

For APST 3.3, my goal is to build on a variety of teaching strategies that can incorporate a range
of different learning styles, though individual problem solving, group work and guided learning.
Building an array of focus questions to engage students to solve problems and develop skills to
explore, discuss, analyse and critique information.

6.3 Engage with colleagues and

improve practice
Seek and apply constructive
feedback from supervisors and
teachers to improve teaching
practices.

For APST 3.4, my goal is to introduce resources to engage students and enhance their learning.
One of these goals will be to incorporate the use of ICTs such as IWB to produce an interactive
element into the lesson. As a pre-service teacher on my first practicum I am anticipating
questions that might challenge my knowledge and through the use of a resource such the IWB,
this can redirect the lesson to researching as a class in real time rather than coming back to the
class later with a response.
For APST 6.3, my goal is to actively seek out and gain comprehensive and constructive
feedback on how to enhance my teaching practices, where I need improvement and how I can go
about achieving these goals by applying the newly gained knowledge. I am hoping to build up a
reflection journal on what strategies worked, what I could have done better and what to omit
completely.
