Introduction to Management

Assignment 2 Audio visual Presentation Guidelines


Value: 40% (Presentation: 20% + Written Group Presentation Submission: 20%)
Due: Presentations will be scheduled during Weeks 8 to 12.
Aims: The course learning objectives (CLO) of this assessment are for you to demonstrate your
capacity to:
Analyse management issues and justify your recommendations based on management
theories (CLO 2).
Work effectively and collaboratively with others in diverse management contexts (CLO 3).
Effectively communicate management ideas and practices through a range of media (CLO 5).
Task:
1. PRESENTATION (20%): Produce a 5 minute audio-visual presentation on one of the topics listed
in the categories below.
Each group member is required to be present during the presentation and respond to
questions at the conclusion of the presentation.
2. GROUP PRESENTATION SUBMISSION (20%): Develop a statement showing
a summary of key ideas in the presentation;
a summary (annotation) of the key ideas used from each reference that were used in
developing the content of the presentation;

a discussion of the key implications from your presentation for managers in contemporary
organisations.

Category 1: Human Perspectives of Management:
Managerial communication: Managing communication in diverse groups
The managerial environment: Managing socially responsible and ethical behaviour in a
global society
Category 2: Organisational Perspectives of Management
Managing strategically
Organisational analysis
Managing creativity, innovation and design
Category 2: International perspectives of management.
Future trends
Group Assignment
Form a group of no more than 4 students with other students from your class.
You are not to form groups with students from another class as this creates difficulties
with scheduling the presentation.

The names of each member of the group must be recorded on the form found in
Assessment Assignment 2: Group Presentation Group Presentation Instructions.
Give the form to your tutor by the end of Week 4.

Select one topic from the list above.


Drawing on the scholarly literature and contemporary issues found within a range of
other media select one theme that relates to the topic

Produce a 5 minute audio visual presentation based on the theme you have selected.

You are required to sign the Policy for awarding different individual grades: Equity of
Contribution policy

You are required to complete the Assessment Task 2 AV Presentation Submission statement
as a Word document

A. Submission of the Audio-Visual presentation (20%):


Details regarding the submission of the presentation will be discussed in class.
On the day of presentation you should arrive early to class with a copy of your presentation
on an USB stick so that you can load it onto the desktop of the room computer.

All members of the group will be expected to be in attendance to answer questions at the
end of the presentation.
o Each member of the group will be asked a question about the theories and other
content in the presentation
o If a group member is not in attendance then marks will be deducted for that individual
student unless Special Consideration has been granted.

B. Submission of the Group Presentation Submission (20%)

One member of the group is to take responsibility of uploading the submission statement
through the electronic submission link (this can be found in Assessment Assignment 2
Group Presentation Submit the Assessment Task 2 AV Presentation Submission here) by
the end of week 8 (date to be advised).

The document should contain the following.


1. A 150 word summary of the presentation that clearly states
a. the topic
b. the key idea/s
2. Reference List (Minimum of 5 references)
3. Annotated reference list (Minimum of 5 references)
Write a short summary (or annotation : ~50 -75 words for each reference) of the
key ideas you used from each reference in the film.
4. Report (500 words with references)
From the key ideas presented in your presentation, discuss the key implications
for managers in contemporary organisations.
