A. Simulations
We will play some simulations during the semester. Some of these simulations will be individual, some other
ones will be done in teams. To form the teams, the class will be divided between teams consisting of 4/51
people. Each team will play a simulation at the end of the semester. The performance of the team during the
simulation will count as a grade for this activity. If a team member misses the simulation, he/she will get a 0
in this team assignment. In addition, there will be an individual quiz about the material for the simulation.
This quiz will be done the session before the simulation.
B. Midterm
1 To be determined depending on the number of students registered in the class.

The midterm exam will be done in class and in the middle of the semester. Because of the nature of the
topics, the exams can have short/open-ended questions, short essay types, and multiple choice.
C. Individual participation and online quizzes
Active participation is very important for this course. Class discussion will revolve around the assigned
readings, quizzes, individual presentations, class exercises and discussions of cases.
The participation points cannot be made up if you did not attend class other than if you are absent because of
a documented University event for which you have previously notified me or a documented serious illness.
In addition, we will discuss two cases throughout the semester. It is essential, therefore, that you read these
assignments and do the assessments prior to class.
Preparation for a case discussion should begin with: 1) A rapid reading of the assigned case and other
materials. 2) Then, it is mandatory to review the discussion questions provided for clues as to what issues
require special attention. 3) The last step is normally to re-read the case carefully, taking notes that sort
information, facts, and observations under a number of relevant headings. Push yourself to reach definitive
conclusions before you come to class.
Note: If while in class I see that not many people are participating, I can do a short quiz about the
case.
We will also perform online quizzes. The online quizzes will be announced in class and they will help ensure
students are keeping up with the readings. I will drop the lowest score of the online quizzes.
The participation/quizzes/short assignments points cannot be made up if you did not attend class other than
if you are absent because of a documented University event for which you have previously notified me or a
documented serious illness.
D. Individual presentation
Each student will have to prepare a short presentation (5-10 minutes) based on the following instructions:

There will be one assigned per chapter and the description will be included in Moodle.

Each student should prepare at least ONE of these assignments in a form of a short power point
presentation.
Students can choose when to present by signing up in Moodle so everybody can see it. No more than
three students can sign up for each assignment.

E. Final exam
The final exam will be comprehensive in nature and it will be done in the last day of classes, closed notes
and closed books. Key concepts and applications questions can be expected.
F. Attendance
Through the class period, there will be different activities based on team work. If the student does not come
to class, the student wont have access to the points provided by each activity. These points will count for

BUS100 Introduction to Business

Alejandra Marin amarin@solbridge.ac.kr office 1111 Moodle password:business3 5 / 5

your attendance in class. Moreover, following Woosong policies, it is expected that students attend to all
sessions. Documented excuses need to follow the respective policies developed in Solbridge. I wont accept
excuses presented to me more than one week after the missing session.
Note: Attendance for me means active participation in class as well. So if you are coming to class to do
activities for other classes your attendance grade can be lower even in you are in class.
