Stand-alone modules
Stand-alone modules, such as 23Bx40 and 23BE50, have a direct connection to
the SPB (see also chapter 2.2).
The number of modules is limited depending on the following hardware limits:

License model

The licenses are arranged according to the size of the database (number of data
points).
4 different sizes for the number of data points are available (Basic License).
The Basic License includes all communication protocols:
Systems with up to 50 data points
Systems with up to 250 data points
Systems with up to 750 data points
Systems with up to 5 000 data points (only RTU540)
IEC 61850 Client and Server can be installed on the same RTU. The total number
of data point is than limited to 750. (only RTU540)
The number of data points is calculated as follows:
Data points directly connected to the RTU500 system
Data points coming from or sent to subordinate devices
Virtual data points of PLCs and logic functions

The number of data points is displayed in RTUtil500 during the creation of the
configuration files.
The following additional licenses are available for additional functions of the
RTU500:
License for Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Archives
License for the Integrated Human Machine Interface (HMI) only for
RTU540

The Archive license includes the following archives:

Archive for Events and Indications
Archive for Measured Values
Archive for Counter Values
Archive for Files received from protection devices

The Archive for Security Events contains the following information:

Upload or download of configuration data
Login or logout of users, User Account Logging (UAL)
Changes in the User Account Management Function (UAM)
Access to the archive of Security Events
Start and stop of PLC Debug mode
Because of technical limitations, not all communication protocols can run on all
communication ports of all available communication units. For more information
refer to [4] Interfaces and Protocols.
