radio demodulation on the service. The demodulated signal is
transmitted to ZXMBW B9100 through fiber or local connection. The ZXMBW B9100 decodes the signal, and sends the
signal to core network via R6 interface.

Signal Flows
Service Signal Flow
In ZXMBW B9100, control plane signal flow and media plane signal
flow are combined into one signal flow.
Forward Signal
Flow

Figure 10 shows the forward service signal flow.

Chapter 2 Work Principle

The service signal from CN flows through AGW and into the CSIM
board via R6 interface. After Ethernet switch, it is distributed to
MPXM, MPIM and WBPM to finish the MAC and PHY processing of
baseband modulation, and then sent to RRU through the baseband-RF optical interface.
Reverse Signal
Flow

Figure 11 shows the reverse signal flow.

FIGURE 11 RESERVE SERVICE SIGNAL FLOW

The RF signal from MS flows into WBPM board through the baseband-RF optical interface. After Ethernet switch, MPXM, MPIM and
WBPM completes the MAC and PHY processing of baseband demodulation. Finally, the signal is sent to AGW via the R6 interface
in CSIM board.

Clock Signal Flow

ZXMBW B9100 system clock is wholly distributed by TFM.
TFM processes received satellite signals and outputs PP1S, 4CHIP
and SerDes clock signals. Afterwards, it distributes these clock
signals to each board of ZXMBW B9100, as shown in Figure 12.

One BS Connected
to Multiple AGWs

To improve the reliability and AGW disaster recovery capability,

one BS is connected to multiple AGWs. Both layer 2 and layer 3
exchanges between BS and AGWs are supported.
1. In layer 2 mode,
One BS is connected to multiple AGWs through a layer 2 switch,
as illustrated in Figure 15.
FIGURE 15 BS CONNECTED

TO

MULTIPLE AGWS

VIA

LAYER 2 SWITCH

In this mode, the external IP address of MPXM is in the same

subnet with interface IP addresses of these AGWs. Because all
media plane and signaling plane packets sent to an AGW should
be transferred by the interface of the AGW, the corresponding
route table should be configured in MPXM.
2. In layer 3 mode,
The external IP address of MPXM, interface IP addresses, signaling IP addresses and media plane IP addresses of AGWs can
be in different subnets. In this mode, the media plane and signaling plane packets sent to any AGW should be only routed to
the external router connected to the MPXM because of simple
configuration of MPXM.
Figure 16 illustrates the layer 3 connectivity mode.

The signaling between the BS and the ASN-GW is transmitted

through the R6 Channel. It adopts a format of User Datagram
Protocol (UDP) plus the format defined by the NWG stage 3. Encapsulation channel protocol bears media layer data. R6 signaling
bearer is UDP R6 data bearer can be Generic Routing Encapsulation
(GRE), Multiple Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Virtual Local
Area Network (VLAN). ASN-GW terminates the R6 channel from
the BS. R6 channel can be realized through different Encapsulation techniques GRE, MPLS or VLAN and the channel granularities
may differ. The data routing function of R6 supports negotiation

QoS - Quality of Service
The performance specification of a communications channel or system. QOS may be quantitatively indicated by channel or system
performance parameters, such as signal-to-noise ratio (S/N), bit
error ratio (BER), message throughput rate, and call blocking probability. QOS is a subjective rating of telephone communications
quality in which listeners judge transmissions by qualifiers, such
as excellent, good, fair, poor, or unsatisfactory.
RRU - Remote Radio Unit
rtPS - real-time Polling Service
SS - Subscriber Station
TCA - Traffic ChannelAssignment Message
TDD - Time Division Duplex
A transmission method that uses only one channel for transmitting
and receiving, separating them by different time slots. No guard
band is used. This increases spectral efficiency by eliminating the
buffer band, but also increases flexibility in asynchronous applications. For example, if less traffic travels upstream, the time slice
for that direction can be reduced, and reallocated to downstream
traffic.
