1) (3) A 1.6 Mg (megagram) Mazda Miata convertible was

left sitting in the sun and its largely aluminium body,
frame and engine rose to a temperature of 65C. It was
accidently allowed to roll into an insulated pool containing
3.0x103 liters of water at 23C. What is the temperature of
the car and water at equilibrium? (Assume the car 's mass is
l .6xlrl kg and only made of aluminium. There was no heat loss to
anything else. It is just heat exchanged between the car and the water
in the pool.)

Specific heat of water= 4.1855 J/gC

Specific heat of aluminium = 0.900 J/gC

8) (3) .From the previous question, what would happen if l were to shine a light of 6.5 e V
on the gold surface? How is this same or different from using light of 3.0 eV?
(Hint: I thinking the answer should be in light of the photoelectric effect - some of Einstein's best work)

9) (3) lt is summertime and l'm going outside. With my complexion 1 need to worry
about sunburn. We tend to lump all UV electromagnetic radiation in to two categories:
UV A and UV B . UV A may not give me a bum but it stimulates tanning and is implicated
in skin cancer. UVB is higher energy and can cause nasty sunburns.
UVA radiation has a wavelength of about 360nm. How much energy, in Joules, does a
photon of UVA light transfer?
