Blake, Mouton, Barnes & Greiner first
described the grid in a manufacturing plant of
4,000 employees during 1963
This was a longitudinal study over 12 months,
but without any control group
At the individual level, they reported major
shifts in dominant values, attitudes and
behavioural patterns
