PACIFIC JUDICIAL COUNCIL HOSTS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE


CONFERENCE ON GUAM

Beginning on Tuesday, September 20, the Pacific Judicial Council will be
hosting its 2016 Domestic Violence Conference at the Sheraton Laguna
Guam Resort. The four day conference will include presentations by
nationally-known experts from the National Institute of Crime Prevention,
Rod Reder and William Rousseau.
Among the issues that will be discussed are elder abuse, stalking and
cyberstalking, and abuser typologies. Additionally, judicial officers from
Guam and throughout the Pacific will be on-hand to offer insights into how
domestic violence is affecting their jurisdictions.
The Pacific Judicial Councils membership is comprised of judicial officers
from Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, American
Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau.
Attendees of the 2016 Domestic Violence Conference will be eligible to
receive up to 21.5 continuing legal education credits. Licensed social
workers will also be eligible for continuing education units for attendance.
Chairing the planning committee for the 2016 Domestic Violence
Conference is the Honorable Arthur R. Barcinas, Judge of the Superior
Court of Guam. Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood of the United
States District Court of Guam is President of the Pacific Judicial Council
and its Education Committee Chairman is Associate Justice F. Philip
Carbullido of the Supreme Court of Guam.
