FibeAir IP-20 CeraOS 8.3.0.0.1

1.

Introduction

1.1

Product Overview

Release Notes for FibeAir IP-20E

FibeAir IP-20E is a high-capacity, all-outdoor Ethernet backhaul product

designed to operate in the E-Band frequency range. IP-20E provides over
1 Gbps capacity over 62.5 and 250 MHz channels, with modulations of 2 128
QAM.
IP-20E utilizes the same CeraOS software as the rest of the FibeAir IP-20
platform. This includes an advanced Ethernet services model premised on
supporting the standard MEF services (MEF 6, 10), and building upon this
support by the use of very high granularity and flexibility. Operationally, the
IP-20 Ethernet services model is designed to offer a rich feature set combined
with simple and user-friendly configuration, enabling users to plan, activate,
and maintain any packet-based network scenario.
The FibeAir series pay-as-you-go activation key model further enables
operators to build for the future by adding capacity and functionality over
time to meet the needs of network growth without requiring additional
hardware.

1.2

Hardware Release 2 Introduction and Highlights

FibeAir IP-20E hardware release 2 (R2) is released with CeraOS version
8.3.0.0.1.
IP-20E R2, with CeraOS 8.3, extends the capacity of IP-20E to 1.6 Gbps, adding
support for 62.5 MHz channels as well as 250 MHz channels. IP-20E R2 offers
ACM, with a modulation BPSK (2 QAM) through 128 QAM. Support for 125 and
500 MHz channels, 256 QAM modulation, and capacity up to 2.5 Gbps is
planned for future release.
IP-20E R2 also provides a reduced weight and form factor, reduced power
consumption, and very simple installation. IP-20E R2 can be ordered with a 43
dBi flat antenna, and is delivered in a single radio-antenna unit. IP-20E R2 can
also be used in direct-mount installations.
IP-20E R2 is equipped with a WiFi access point supporting 802.11 b/g/n. The
WiFi access point does not broadcast its SSID and enables a secure WiFi
connection for technical personnel to be able to manage the IP-20E system
with no wired connection using a portable device.
Note:

WiFi management is hardware-ready with the addition of a

plugin module, and will be supported in future software
releases.

These features are designed to minimize both OPEX and time of installation.
In addition to these enhancements, the CeraOS 8.3/R2 release supports the
same basic feature set as FibeAir IP-20S with CeraOS 8.0, subject to the
limitations described in Section 5, Feature Release Notes and Section 12, Notes
and Limitations.
Note:

Header De-Duplication is not supported in the current

release. It is planned for future release.

Software Upgrade

During software installation:

IP-20E is hardware-ready to support 256 QAM (Profile 7). For the current
release, the highest supported modulation is 128 QAM (Profile 6). Therefore,
users should not configure any profile higher than profile 6.

DO NOT reboot the unit during the SW installation process. As soon as the
process has been successfully completed, the unit reboots automatically.

In rare cases, the installation process can take up to 30 minutes.

Only in the event that the installation has not been successfully completed and
more than 30 minutes have passed can the unit be rebooted.

2+0
Note:

7.1

1+1 HSB and 2+0 CDDP are planned for future release.

Approved SFP modules

The IP-20E includes an SFP cage that supports regular SFP and CSFP
standards:
Regular SFP provides a single Ethernet interface: ETH2. This interface uses
two optical fiber cables (one for TX and one for RX).
CSFP (Dual BiDi SFP) provides two Ethernet interfaces: ETH2 and ETH3.
These interfaces use a single optical fiber cable per interface, multiplexing
TX and RX on the same cable using different wavelengths for TX and RX.
When a Dual BiDi CSFP is used, a single-fiber BiDi CSFP must be used for the
third party equipment connected to the CSFP ports, with opposite
wavelengths for TX and RX. The following table provides an example of a valid
CSFP-SFP pair in which TX=1310nm and RX=1490nm for the CSFP connected
to the IP-20E, and TX=1490nm and RX=1310nm for the SFP connected to the
third party equipment.

Software
Management

Medium

While downloading a new software version to a

unit, the user has no ability to cancel file transfer
upon failure of the FTP connection. Upon failure,
the IP-20E unit will only identify the FTP
connection failure after a timeout period of 60
minutes.

Add several minutes of "wait" states at

the beginning of the script.

Wait 60 minutes or perform a hardware

reset.

Until the timeout expires, the user cannot restart

the download and cannot cancel the download
operation.
