The sun: provides us with light and heat. We need both
amounts. Two layers of gases in the earth's atmosphere make sure that we get both light and heat in
safe quantities. Sunlight contains ultra-violet rays, which can cause skin-cancer.

The sea: affects out weather. Most of our rain comes from the sea. The heat of the sun evaporates the
surface water, turning it into water vapor rises into the air and forms cloud. The clouds are then driven
by winds. The water vapor condenses and falls as rain. A great part of the rainfall returns to the sea.

The land: is the home of trees and plants which are essential to life on earth. People and animals
breath in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide. Whereas trees do exactly the opposite. Plants also
help to save life because they provide cures for many of our illnesses. Most of these medicinal plants
are found in the great tropical rainforests of South America, South East Asia and Africa.
