Acceptable Operating Limits HarnexTM 320 (Service Fill)
Prudent management of gearbox fluid is a vital piece to maintaining reliability and
maximizing the lifecycle of any wind turbine gearbox. A well designed and executed oil
sampling program can help operators to understand the machines condition and provide
early detection of potential problems. The table below offers guidelines for monitoring
used oil analysis results. It should be noted that this is a guideline only and should
be used in context with the trend of multiple used oil samples over time. Significant
deviations from the normal trend for any given piece of equipment are valuable
indicators of potential problems. A Petro-Canada Technical Services Advisor can
assist with developing an effective used oil analysis program.
The following table summarizes the acceptable operating limits for HARNEX 320
service fill.

What is the HT
difference?
Petro-Canada starts
with the HT purity
process to produce
water-white, 99.9%
pure base oils. The
result is a range of
lubricants, specialty
fluids and greases
that deliver maximum
performance for our
customers.

Typical values for physical property data and elemental analysis compiled from oil
analyses of gearbox oil in GE 1.5 MW wind turbines.
SOURCES include: AWEA standard 6006- E03
* Harnex has none of these elements, therefore they may be due to residual additives from previous oil in the gearbox. Higher values are not detrimental to the
performance of Harnex 320.
** S and P are present in Harnex 320, but may also be present in residual competitive oil. Note 1: Uncertainty of 1 ISO code is typical of particle counting methods.
