Dear Families,
PTO fundraiser forms are due tomorrow. Please help your child
complete their sales and return the forms to school tomorrow!
Book order forms with an attached letter were sent home on Parents
Night. This year you can order by returning the order form and payment to
school with your child or by placing your order online at
www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. If you place your order online our class
will receive a bonus. The deadline for ordering is next Tuesday, September
20. The class activation code is GQVJ2.
Last week your child brought home a book flyer from Mrs. Fleming.
There will be a book fair in the gym this Thursday from after school until the
end of Open House. The flyer shows some of the books that will be
available at the book fair, but there will be many more choices at the Book
Fair. You may purchase books on Thursday if you are interested.
- Monday is our library day. Your child checked out two books. PLEASE
help your child get the year started off right by keeping their books in
their backpack every night and returning their two library books each
Monday. Please help them practice reading their library books and
other books at home each night.
This week we will be learning about:

- Blend and read short vowel words.
- Create word families for at, -ap, -an (man, can, fan, pan) and it and -ig
- Initial and final consonant sounds
Please check your childs folder as they bring phonics sheets home for
homework along with math work every day except Friday. Check and
initial each paper and return it to school the next day.

SPELLING: Your child is bringing home their first spelling word list this
week. They will be bringing home a new word list each Monday. Please
help them practice the words on the list at home each week so that they will
be able to spell them correctly each time they use these words at school. We
will take a spelling test on Friday of each week. Thanks for your help. The
words for this week are on, no, not, top, pop, I, in, it, pin, and tip. This is
Spelling List 1. There are spelling sentences on the back of the paper. This
weeks sentences are Pin it on. and Tip it in.
READING: This week our reading stories are Cam and Pat, and A Day
at School. Words to know are can, fan, nap, Pat, we, jump, here, and,
too, not and CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words with a as the
vowel. We will be working on sentence writing, sentence completion, and
cause and effect. We will compare and contrast stories. We will also work
on independent reading skills.
Weekly spelling and reading lists can both be found at
www.spellingcity.com. Search under teacher name for Drollinger.
Then choose the appropriate list. This week we are doing Spelling List

This site helps your child practice the words in a variety of fun ways.
This becomes even more important as the words become more difficult.
