The Government Should be Raise The Price Of Cigarettes?

1. Background
A cigarette is a small cylinder of finely cut tobacco leaves rolled in thin
paper for smoking. Smoking does not have a lot of benefits, many people
become ill. But even so cigarettes remain searchable and easily purchased. This
is partly due to the price of cheap cigarettes. So what if the price of cigarettes is
raised? Recently, many rumors spread that the price of cigarettes will rise up to
50,000 per pack. Then how smokers deal with it? Will it have an impact both or
just the opposite? You agree with the statement that the government should
raise the price of cigarettes?
2. Contents
It's basically, every policy will lead to positive and negative impacts. But
here, from the viewpoint of the author, the author does not agree with the
statement that the government should raise the price of cigarettes. Because
compared to a positive impact, it turns out the negative impact of more and
awful. Here we describe the reason why the author does not agree with the
statement
The increase in excise taxes and cigarette making industry kept
depressed. No doubt, if this is done it is not possible for millions of people who
depend their fate in the tobacco industry will become unemployed.
Minister of Industry (Industry) Saleh Husin said, the tobacco industry is
one of the largest contributors to state revenue. Even when compared to the oil
and gas (oil), the foreign exchange earned from the tobacco industry is much
greater.
He explained that the revenue from cigarettes continue to increase every
year. 2014 revenue from cigarettes to the state budget as much as Rp.140

trillion, up 22 percent from the previous year that only as much as Rp.115
trillion.
The number of workers in the tobacco industry as a whole involves 6.1
million people. As many as 1.6 million people among the tobacco farmers who
when pressed by taxes and high taxes, the tobacco farmers will potentially lose
their jobs.
And what about the price of tobacco?
If seen clearly, tobacco prices will be more expensive because the
demand for tobacco will be reduced from the cigarette factory.
How to profit with less cigarette factory?
The average price per pack of cigarettes around Rp.16.000, if increased to
50,000 mean an increase of 3 x folding. It could be possible advantage same
cigarette factory - referring to the statement of members of the fraction of
Nasdem, Irma Suryani Chaniago - unless the cigarette tax increase, as reported
in the media.
What about foreign exchange?
Is also on the impact of foreign exchange? If we look from the profit of
tobacco companies that remain the same, foreign exchange is unlikely to be
achieved as targeted. Remember that the tobacco industry is the biggest foreign
exchange earner is even greater than receipts oil and gas sector.
What about crime?
Crime will probably increase sharply if the price of cigarettes actually
increased. We'll see, anyone who smokes? DPR members, professors, teachers,
farmers, workers, thugs, students, singers, which is the essence. If rich people
certainly would not think the problem of rising cigarette prices.
But what about the lower class? Most of the children of high school also
smoked, usually those who smoke it "a bit naughty". Any increase in crime that
might arise? Such as extortion money to buy cigarettes.
3. Cover

policies that will raise the price of cigarettes. We recommend that the policy
