Description:
Self-excited, self-regulated, water-cooled, three phase, salient poles rotor, brushless,
synchronous, built in accordance with IEC standard generators will be used. A lube oil
module for the generator bearings is used. A shaft driven oil pump on the generators to
reduce the dependence on DC batteries for safe shutdown during trip events will be tried
in detail design stage (Table below). The generators will have capacity to incorporate
sufficient flywheel inertia to achieve stable frequency control when running in isolated
mode.

normally receive control signals from the control panel located in the control room. The
turbine governor system will include the following control functions:
Frequency control
Load control
Main inlet valve control
Spear (needle) control
Jet deflector control
Manual mode operation
Local and remote operation
The governor system will consist of the following main units:
Digital turbine governor

Description:
GENERATION LEVEL
6.6 kV switchgears shall be located at the first floor near the control room. Together with
switchgear components (like CBs, CTs, PTs etc.), these switchgear panels will have inbuilt bus
bar cabinets housed in its back. Each generators output terminals shall be connected to this
3.3 kV bus bar system with XLPE cable of adequate size. The switchgear and other protection
and control components will accompany them in the switchgear panel to complete the
incoming generation power circuit. Individual Switchgear panels for each generator incomer,
outgoing feeder and bus coupler will be provided to complete the generation level switchgear
system. This switchgear system will work in co-ordination with the control panels
accommodated in the control room.
STATION SUPPLY
An indoor type, 150 kVA, 3.3/0.4/0.23 kV, 50 Hz, ONAN, DYn11 distribution transformer
shall be used for feeding power to power house lighting, battery charging, governor oil pumps,
air conditioning, power house crane, supply for housing etc. The station supply transformer
will be connected to 3.3 kV bus bar system through HT DO or ACB fuse and this fuse is the
only major protection to this station transformer (especially in the primary side).
HIGH VOLTAGE SWITCHYARD
A 33 MVA (at 10% additional load case and 30 MVA at normal case), 3.3/132 kV outdoor
type switchyard shall be constructed near the powerhouse to evacuate the generated power.
The switchyard components shall be suitable for hot, humid and moderately polluted
environment. The switchgear system for this switchyard shall be equipped with proper ratings
of Circuit breakers, Current transformers, potential transformers, disconnecting switches with /
without earthing and Lightening Arrestors and synchronous check relay etc. for both 3.3 kV
and 132 kV incoming and outgoing circuits. The switchgear system here will work in
coordination with the associated control panels accommodated in the control room and shall
ensure the overall protection of the switchyard.
