Anthony J. Fulginiti
PRSSA Chapter Newsletter

Presidents Piece

By Katarina DeFelice, AJF-PRSSA President

Hiya, and welcome to PRSSA!
Thank you so much for taking
interest in the Anthony J. Fulginiti
PRSSA (AJF-PRSSA) chapter this
year! Our club has a long and
successful past and future that we
would love for you to be a part of.
You have come at an exciting time.
This year will be one of our biggest
years yet!
This year, AJF-PRSSA celebrates
its 40th year of building students
resumes, professional skills and
future careers, along with the
College of Communication and
Creative Arts 50th anniversary of
instilling knowledge in thousands of
students minds. Because of these
milestone anniversaries, our
executive board worked tirelessly over
the summer to ensure you get the most
of your AJF-PRSSA membership.
PRSSA National Conference,
held from Oct. 21 - Oct. 25 in
Indianapolis this year, remains the
highlight of the fall semester, with job
and network opportunities, as well as
career-enhancing experiences such as
panel discussions, keynote speakers

Welcome Back!

and bonding on chapter, regional

and national levels. Other exciting
fall activities include weekly
social meetings, our annual fall
philanthropy Dance Away Cystic
Fibrosis, the Induction Brunch for
new PRSSA member members and
much more.
In the spring, make sure to sign
up for agency and corporate tours.
AJF-PRSSA members get exclusive
access to PR, advertising and
communication offices in the area to
shadow for half a day. Internships
are known to arise out of these
experiences. Our spring philanthropy,
Organ Donor Day, is the only
student-run national competition in
collegiate PRSSA - we hope to sign
up over 100 organ donors and beat
last years record!
Many more amazing
experiences await you in PRSSA.
We not only seek to advance our
profession and future professionals,
but also make your college
experience unforgettable. Im so
excited to see you at our next
meeting. Live your year to the fullest
and create your story with PRSSA!

looking forward to more adventures
and exciting meetings starting this fall.
For those of you who are new to
Rowan, the public relations major, or

gain experience for your resume. You

can work with clients and

execute PR plans for local companies
in our student firm: PRaction. You
can tour agencies and nearby firms
on club trips.
You can learn more about

has nearly endless opportunities for

everyones interests.
For those of you returning to
the club, it is a good time to start
thinking about applying all those
skills you learned in your
previous classes or from
internships. The e-board is always
looking for volunteers to chair
their committees. Perhaps you
would like to help edit PRomo or
plan Organ Donor Day. Our board
members rely upon the expertise

of students like you to help make every

event and initiative a success.
I was a member of PRSSA as an
undergraduate student at Marist College.
Working with fellow students was one of
the fastest ways I made life-long friendsmany of which I continued to work with
even after graduation. Joining our club is
a way to practice and improve your PR
skills, make friends, and join a
professional organization with thousands
of members in its network. I look forward
to seeing you at our next meeting!

PRSSAs AJF chapter

congratulates Andrew Pasquale
Bove as the September Member of
the Month. Andrew, a Senior
Public Relations
Major, accepted the
treasurer position
and continues to help
make the chapter the
best it can be.
Throughout the
summer Andrew
dedicated his time
towards fulfilling
Andrew
club accomplishments.
He completed dividing up the
2016-2017 budget that allocated
over $18,500 amongst the various
executive board committees. He
also works with other executive
board members in coordinating the
logistics for the PRSSA National
Conference in Indianapolis.
Andrew works on a team of
executive board members to
present a chapter development
session during National
Conference. Thankfully, with all

his time spent on PRSSA this summer,

Andrew had time to also enjoy the
season with family and friends.
Academically, Andrew also found
the time to
successfully complete
multiple summer courses.
With minors in both
advertising and history,
Andrew strives for
achievement in all that he
does at Rowan. The
adventure continues with
Andrews future hopes to
Bove
work in professional sports
or entertainment. He plans to work
either on a professional sports
organizations PR staff, or work in
sports media.
In the future, Andrew dreams to
open his own PR consulting agency
with a focus of expertise on
professional sports PR.
Again, PRSSA congratulates
Andrew Bove on his success and the
extraordinary work completed for
the chapter!

Welcome back students! As the

class of 2016 continues to venture
down the road of adulthood and
incoming freshmen ponder the
adventures that their college years will
bring, Rowan University provides
both its students and community with
innovative additions for the 2016-2017
school year.
Rowan welcomes students to its
newest residence hall, Holly Pointe
Commons, which is prime real estate
for the students of Rowan, following
its Fall 2016 completion. Located next
to Rowan Boulevard, the building
connects the university to downtown
Glassboro. This spiral-shaped
structure accommodates first-year and
sophomore students, including those
in the Engineering, History, Honors,
LGBTQ+, Pre-Med., and Writing Arts
communities. The buildings perimeter
bedrooms are grouped around central
facilities and gathering spaces,
designed to bring students together.

The town of Glassboro continues

to expand not only its educational
facilities, but also its hot spots for
entertainment. In addition to the local
Landmark Americano, a go-to for
those in search of a low-priced meal
or cocktail, Glassboro introduced a
new eatery in walking distance of
Rowan Universitys main campus.
Chickies and Petes, the Philadelphiabased crab house and sports bar, plans
to open its 15th restaurant coming
soon to 220 Rowan Boulevard.
The sports bar chain sits on the
first floor of a six-story building,
sharing space with Inspira Cooper
Health Systems, Tony Lukes, and
South Jersey Federal Credit Union.
Chickies and Petes now proudly
serves the Rowan University and
Glassboro communities.
Check out our new edition every
month to get the latest updates on
Rowan and the Glassboro community.
Good luck to all students this year!

What do I wear to an
interview? How many internships
should I have? If I dont find a job
three months after graduation, will I

Q: How did you land your first job in

A: My first official job in PR actually

came from my internship. After two
months as an intern, one of the higherups unexpectedly left the
organization. Apparently, I made
quite an impression in those first few
weeks, because my boss offered me a
full-time position the next day!

LinkedIn is a great tool for connecting

resume and job search.
