T60
PERIOD: 12TH JUNE 2016/ 18TH JUNE 2016

INTRODUCTION

1.0

On 26th of April 2016, it was found that the Transformer Protection

Relay T60 produces an alarm BATTERY FAIL; Replace Battery.
Upon research of the system, ECI has purchased a type of exclusive
battery (type CR 2/3 A) for the power supply (RH) module of the
protection relays and set for replacement during the offline water wash
of GT1 and GT2.
PTW No: 6869/6912

FINDINGS

Background:
The GCP2100 Generator and Transformer Protection relays are responsible to protect their
respective equipments from damage by means of tripping the system via relay. Each unit (G60
and T60) comes in plug-in modules that can be replaced easily. On 26th of April 2016, it was
found that the Transformer Protection Relay T60 produces an alarm BATTERY FAIL; Replace
Battery alarm. Upon research of the system, ECI has purchased the designated battery and set to
replace it during the offline water wash of GT1 and GT2 Q2.
Findings:
1. Initial finding indicates battery has failed and need to be replaced.
2. Battery is responsible to keep the computer time and module time to be running and in sync.
3. The module time and date resets to initial value after replacement of battery thus need to be
resynchronized.
Steps Taken:
1. Open and plug out panel cover.
2. Plug out RH module (power supply).
3. Unscrew RH cover and replace battery.
4. Reinstall module and wait for the module to boot by itself.
5. Reset all the alarms using reset button on the panel.
5. Open Enervista and connect to the designated module.
6. Under Quick Connect Device tree, find Synchronize Devices function.
7. Click on Synchronize Devices button.
8. Close the connection and repeat steps 1 to 7 with other modules.
Additional Steps Taken:
1. Before doing any work, all of the settings and actual values from the module can be exported
to a .csv file as a backup in case the settings are lost. The initial setting is cross checked with the
setting after the replacement of the battery and found that the only difference is the time and date
which can be synchronized with the computer time via Enervista UR software.
