FUNCTION
International Mindedness

Theory of Knowledge

Bourbaki group analytical approach versus

Mandlebrot visual approach.
Learning
Outcome(s)

Students be able to understand:

-properties of graphs

Success
Criteria

Sketching graphs by completing the square

The discriminant and the quadratic graph
Where functions meet (b^2-4ac)
Quadratic optimization ( finding maximum or minimum value)

Prior
Knowledge

Concept of function
Starter:
Students will tell what they know and remember from SPM
Main:

Learning
Activities

Students do completing the square in pair.

Students try to sketch the graph using information/properties in completing the
square.
Students explore the properties of quadratic graph- maximum, minimum, axis of
symmetry, vertex, y intercept and x intercept.
Students explore the discriminant. Try to find the value of b^2-4ac.the compare and
see how all graph touch the axis. Draw conclusion
Plenary
Students tell what they learn today and give feedback .

Assessment

Hease Textbook review exercise 1c

Reflection

Qadriah did not remember at all completing the square. So teacher need to show
again how to perform completing the square. Later Qadriah managed to do perform
CTS on her own and with heinis guidance/
All 3 students be able to sketch graph and label all of the properties.
