The Twelve Virtues

The Twelve Virtues are unique and prestigious

relics. Each embodies the perfection of one of the
twelve virtues, and they have served to reinforce
them through the centuries, passed from Scion to
Scion.
Each Virtue usually has two unique powers and
gives access to at least one purview. To use one of
the Twelve Virtues, you must possess at least 3
dots in the associated virtue, and have no other
virtues at a higher level. If this is not the case, this
legendary relic cannot be used (it is merely a
normal object).
In addition, anyone with a Virtue can never
oppose the virtue associated with it, and can never
succumb to the associated Virtue Extremity. The
owner is the perfect embodiment of the virtue, and
another of its benefits is the great respect given to
those who know what it is.
All of these relics have a rating of .

THE ARMOR OF ENDURANCE

This coat of mail, designed by the
Aesir, gives its wearer access to
the purviews of Guardian and
War. In addition, it grants a
number of automatic successes to
all Fortitude rolls equal to the
wearers Endurance.
Finally, it has the following
characteristics: an additional soak
of (+4B/4L/2A) and no fatigue or
movement penalties.
The owner of this armor embodies both courage
and determination. He is a tireless fighter, and will
stop in the face of no opponent, however strong.

THE SCALES OF HARMONY

This mystical relic, intimately
associated with Maat, helps its
owner to restore balance in all
things. It comes in the form of a
tiny set of scales, weighing only a
kilo.
The Scales of Harmony give their
owner access to the purviews of
Justice and Sun. In addition, their
owner gains a number of automatic successes on his
Presence rolls equal to his Harmony. Finally, the scales add
a number of extra dice to every Prophecy roll equal to half of
their owners Harmony. This power only works for
Prophecy rolls made in order to obtain information about an
event that is seriously undermining the universal balance.

THE CANDLE OF PIETY

This white candle, impressed with the symbol of
the father of the Loa,
Damballa, can never be
entirely burned down. It
provides access to the
Mystery purview, and,
when lit and allowed to
burn for at least one hour,
grants its owner a number
of automatic successes to all Integrity rolls equal to
his Piety for the next twenty-four hours. This
candle has one further power: once per week, its
owner can regain a number of Legend points equal
to twice his Piety (he must spend one hour praying
in its soft light in order to do so).
A Scion with the Candle of Piety is one of the
most popular choices for a messenger of the gods.

THE COLLAR OF COURAGE

This necklace, made from
the teeth of a jaguar, was
created
by
Tezcatlipoca
himself. It grants access to
the
Animal
and
War
purviews. The collar also
grants
a
number
of
automatic successes to all
Melee rolls equal to its
owners Courage.
In addition, the owner of this relic automatically
succeeds on any roll made to resist someone or
something attempting to make him leave a battle
or fight against his will (he must spend a point of
Legend to do so).
The owners of this relic are known for courage so
strong it borders on sheer stupidity. Their bravery
is matched only by their thirst for battle and blood.

THE SKULL OF ORDER

This human skull is said to
be that of an old Scion of
Baron Samedi one of his
favorites, yet. This relic
allows
access
to
the
purviews of Justice and
Death.
This relic also
grants its owner a number
of automatic successes to all Investigation rolls
equal to his Order. Finally, the skull allows its
owner one free reroll on all Charisma rolls (though
they must keep the second roll).
The owner of the Skull of Order is compelled to
bring order to all situations he enters, and to impose
its rule on the living and the dead, on mortals and
immortals alike. He is generally more feared than
respected, and no one dares challenge his verdicts.

THE DAGGER OF LOYALTY

This
obsidian
dagger,
created by a now-defunct
god of the Aztlanti, allows
access
to
the
Health
purview. It also grants its
owner
a
number
of
automatic successes equal to
his Loyalty to any roll
undertaken to directly aid a
friend or ally (this does not work on rolls that
activate Boons or Knacks). The dagger has the
characteristics of a hadseax, but each time its owner
kills an enemy with it, she gains an immediate point
of Legend (this cannot exceed the owners
maximum Legend pool).
The owner of this dagger is recognized for her
unwavering loyalty, and will not hesitate to risk her
life for her family and friends.
OF INTELLECT
The goban (go board)
was created by the
Japanese god of beauty,
arts,
and
sciences,
Benzaiten. It provides
access
to
the
Sun
purview and allows its
owner to play against himself in a game of go.
When the game ends (which takes several hours,
during which the Scion should not be disturbed if
he wants this power to work), the player is filled
with great intellectual knowledge for the next
twenty-four hours. During this time, he enjoys a
number of automatic successes on all Academics,
Art, and Science rolls equal to his Intellect. In
addition, at the end of such a game, he regains a
single point of Willpower.
The owner of this relic has a keen and incisive

mind that is in constant, active thought. He is

always looking for new knowledge, and recognized
as one of the great scholars among the gods.

THE LYRE OF EXPRESSION

This lyre, made of alabaster
with nine strings of gold,
once belonged to Orpheus
himself, who received it from
the god Apollo. It provides
access to the Prophecy and
Sun purviews. It also grants
its owner a number of
automatic successes on all Art (Music) and
Presence rolls equal to his Expression. Finally, the
Scion who plays the lyre has a mighty power: that
of telekinesis. It can move one or more objects
whose combined weight does not exceed his
(Legend x 100) kg. The object cannot move faster
than the speed of a walking man, and cannot be
thrown at opponents (though it may be dropped
on them), nor can it be torn out of someones
hands. The object can never be further away than
the owners (Legend) in meters.
The use of
telekinesis requires the Scion to spend a point of
Legend.
The owner of this relic is an accomplished
musician (at least on the lyre) and can persuade
even the most stubborn. He is also an orator.

THE MASK OF VALOR

Created by Hachiman for
one of his children, this
frightening mask of red
jade allows access to the
Guardian
and
War
purviews. In addition, it
grants its owner a number
of automatic successes to all
Command and Integrity rolls equal to his Valor (as
long as he is acting in a spirit that is compatible
with this virtue). Finally, the wearer of the mask
gains an amplified voice which allows him to give
orders up to (Legend x 100) meters around him and
be fully understood, even over the din of a
battlefield.
The wearer of this mask is the epitome of the
warrior who believes that all innocent lives should
come before his own. He has a sense of sacrifice
matched only by his strength in battle and his
strong leadership.

THE WAKIZASHI OF DUTY

The Obol of Vengeance is an
Athenian coin (hence the
presence
of
the
owl),
originally
Greek,
which
contains all the vengeful
hatred of the deities of the
Dodekathon.
Traditionally,
this coin has accompanied
each of its owners into death
and been used as the price to
pay Charon for their passage into Hades. The
bearer of this coin has a burning desire: to send his
enemies to the underworld, that they might taste
eternal damnation.
The Obol of Vengeance
provides access to the Death and Justice purviews.
It also grants its owner a number of automatic
successes to all Awareness and Investigation rolls
equal to his level of Vengeance (as long as he is
looking for or facing serious criminals not mere
petty thieves). The owner of the coin may also
spend a point of Legend to feel the presence of one
(or more) criminals within a radius equal to his
(Legend x 10) meters.
The owner of the Obol of Vengeance is more
feared than respected. He embodies relentlessness
almost more than justice.

THE WAS OF CONVICTION

This scepter was the symbol of power of the
Egyptian pharaohs. Created by
the gods of the Pesedjet, it
provides access to the purviews
of
Psychopomp
and
Sun.
Moreover, it grants its owner a
number of automatic successes
on all Politics and Presence rolls
equal to his Conviction. Finally, the scepter allows
a Scion to use the Overt Order Knack three times
per day without being required to spend a point of
Willpower (but he must already have the Epic
Manipulation Knack Overt Order).
The owner of the Was of Conviction is a born
learder, and sways the crowds. He inspires respect
wherever he goes and supports his convictions
with his quiet strength and charisma.

This short blade was created as a gift for the

goddess Amaterasu, is intended
to be wielded in battle by the
Scion of the Amatsukami most
worthy of representing the
divine
virtue
of
Duty
(Amaterasu herself does not
actually use it; the gift was
primarily symbolic). The wakizashi grants access
to the Fertility and Health purviews. In addition, it
grants its owner a number of automatic successes
on all Empathy and Integrity rolls equal to his
Duty. Finally, this wakizashi halves the resilience
of all objects and the soak values of all armor
(rounded down) when determining damage
inflicted by it. Apart from this, it is a classic
wakizashi as described on pages 204 and 205 of
Scion: Hero.
The owner of the Wakizashi of Duty is entirely
devoted to the cause of his people, whether thats
protecting them, alleviating their suffering, or
supporting them.
