Dear Elena
Thanks for your birthday card. I had a lovely day and lots of nice presents. I hope you are
feeling better now and that your cold has gone.
I've got some interesting news. My exam results were good and so I decided to look for a
summer job. I saw and advert for an au pair to look after two children from July to
September. The family wanted someone who is practical, organized and reliable. (I've
spent so long looking after my little brother and sister that I think I have those qualities!)
I filled in an application form and sent a photograph but I haven't had an interview yet. The
father rang me and the family wants to meet me next week. I'm a bit nervous about it
because the father was a little aggressive over the phone. I really want to impress the
family, so have you got any tips for the interview.
I saw my ex-boyfriend, James, the other day. He was with his new grlfriend, Anna. She
was staring at me angrily when I hugged James. She told me about her success at school
and in sports. I think she's quite a competitive person - just the opposite to James. I
