Full credit for the class requires participation in every making project we
do in class. What if you missed for any reason? UMD suggests only allowing those with a
university approved excuse to make up work, and if no such excuse it lowers your grade. I permit
everyone to make up any work, including MAKING projects. How? If you miss any
makings, you will need to arrange with two fellow students your own little miniworkshop, where you meet together outside class to share your work and discuss it, and
you write a two-page report on your meeting and discussion. Others may share materials
they got or you may have to procure your own. Katie has bought all the materials herself from
her own money and they are gifts to you if you are in class on the day we do things, or if you have
asked another student before hand to save materials for you. DOCUMENT this in your final learning
analysis, with explanations, and perhaps notes of any discussions you have with Katie about it all.
Let Katie know in office hours Weds 10-11:30 BY APPOINTMENT AT katking@umd.edu or after
class when you need help, the sooner the better. If you have any kind of disability, whether
apparent or non-apparent, learning, emotional, physical, or cognitive, please contact Katie at
katking@umd.edu ASAP to discuss reasonable accommodations for your access needs. Folks who
need time from class to observe religious holidays, please contact to make any arrangements
necessary.
