(2)
Remove three bolts, nine washers and six dampers then separate the control and grounding strap from the airframe.
Installation
(1)
Place the electronic N2 overspeed control on the airframe. Secure with three bolts, six
dampers and nine washers. Position the grounding strap on the aft overspeed control
attachment bolt. The internal tooth lockwasher goes under the bolt head. (See Figure 201.) Tighten nuts to 3540 lb in. (3.94.5 N.m).

NOTE:
B.
N2 speed pickups, P/N 23052285 and subsequent, have wrenching flats on the electrical stud spacers. Use a 7/32 inch wrench on the spacer for torque reaction while
removing the retaining nuts.
(1)
(2)
(3)
Unscrew pickup.
Measure distance from high point on power turbine coupling nut to top of receptacle [nominally 4.209 in. (106.91 mm)] (A, Figure 203).
(2)
Measure distance from pickup tip to top of square mounting head [nominally 5.085 in.
(129.16 mm)] (B, Figure 203).
(3)
(4)
Advance pickup until distance from top of pickup mounting head to top of receptacle
equals (B) (A) + 0.025 0.005 in. (0.64 0.13 mm) [nominally 0.901 in. (22.89 mm)] (C,
Figure 203). Each full turn advances the pickup 0.050 in. (1.27 mm).
(5)
Tighten jam nut to 7090 lb in. (7.910.2 N.m). Recheck dimension C. If not correct, readjust to correct; then lockwire jam nut. For P/N 23054634 exhaust collector assemblies,
lockwire from the jam nut to the cooling air elbow fitting.
NOTE:
N2 speed pickups, P/N 23052285 and subsequent, have wrenching flats on the
electrical stud spacers. Use a 7/32 inch wrench on the spacer for torque reaction while installing the harness lug retaining nuts.
CAUTION:
(6)
Connect harness lugs to pickup studs and tighten nuts to 1317 lb in. (1.51.9 N.m).

Removal
(1)
(2)
Disconnect the two tubes from the tee at the solenoid valve.
(3)
Remove the two nuts and bolts; then separate the overspeed solenoid valve from the horizontal firewall shield. (Left side when looking forward.)
(4)
Installation
(1)
Lubricate packing and install with the tee in the N2 overspeed solenoid valve. Do not
tighten the jam nut at this time.
(2)
Position the overspeed solenoid in the bracket. Secure solenoid with two nuts and bolts.
Tighten nuts to 3540 lb in. (3.94.5 N.m).
(3)
Connect the two tubes to the tee at the solenoid valve. Tighten coupling nuts to 80120 lb
in. (9.013.6 N.m). Tighten tee jam nut to 5580 lb in. (6.29.0 N.m).
(4)
Inspection/Check
A.
B.
(1)
Check the harness by making a continuity test and an insulation test of each circuit (except
as noted in CAUTION above). The insulation test shall be made from each circuit to all
other circuits, including shielding, and to the shell of each connector. The test shall be
made using 1000 volts ac. The test leakage shall not exceed one milliampere. An alternate test may be made using 500 volts dc. Resistance shall not be less than 1.25 megohms.
(2)
Make a diode test using a low voltage (1 to 5 volts dc) indicator lamp. Check between
contacts 1 and 2 of the antiicing solenoid valve connector plug and the overspeed solenoid valve connector plug; in either case, with 1 positive and 2 negative the lamp should
not light. With 1 negative and 2 positive, the lamp should light.
N2 Overspeed Control Check. Check the function of the electronic power turbine N2 overspeed
control system in accordance with para 7.C., 720000, EngineDescription and Operation.

N2 Speed Pickup Inspection/Check. Check the electrical resistance and inspect the physical
condition of the N2 pickup as follows:
NOTE:
(1)
Visually inspect the pickup and connector for physical damage. Inspect the pickup body
for cracks or deformation.
(2)
8.

(3)
The coils shall be insulated from the case by a minimum of 10 megohms at 50 volts dc.
(4)
(5)
D.
(a)
Place the pickup on a table or firm surface, and connect an analog (meter type)
ohmmeter to the studs, ensuring a good, secure electrical connection. Lightly tap
the pickup, starting from just below the electrical connector, working toward the tip,
and monitor the circuit resistance. Any sudden change in circuit resistance will indicate a faulty part.
(b)
If the condition still can not be confirmed, place the pickup in an oven at 200250F
(93121C) for one hour. Upon removal, and while the pickup is still hot, repeat
step (a).
Check N2 overspeed control box for proper grounding. Repeat functional test if ground is
repaired.
(2)
Replace N2 overspeed control unit with serviceable assembly. Repeat functional test for
additional troubleshooting.
