2) Why we need to do it?

honestly believe that human beings wake up each morning

wanting to be good people, to do the right thing. Some of
us even have lofty aspirations of leaving the world a
better place than we found it. And to achieve that we

need to live up our noble social values. The first thing comes to
my mind when I hear someone say that is two major questions:
1) How we do that?
The first thing we need to do is knowing our social values. So
what is a social value? Social value has no single agreed
definition, but according to Peter Worsley a British sociologist
Values are general conceptions of the good, ideas about the
kind of ends that people should pursue throughout their lives and
throughout the many different activities in which they engage.
In simple words, social values may be defined as measure of
goodness or desirability.
The next step is to prioritize your list. This is usually the
most time consuming and difficult step because it requires some
intense thinking. My preferred method of prioritizing your values
list is to ask yourself these questions: Which of these values is

truly the most important to me in life? If I could only satisfy one

of these values, which one would it be? The answer to this
question is your number one value. Then move down the list and
ask which remaining value is the next most important to you, and
so on, until you've sorted the whole list in priority order. For
example: peace respect, justice, honesty, giving back,

responsibility.

It is important to carefully consider your values for several

reasons:
* Values provide goals or ends for the members to aim for; they
could guide your life minute by minute towards noble goals,
rather than your life being controlled by self-serving motives,
customs, accidental occurrences, bad habits, impulses, or
emotions.
* Values provide for stabilities and uniformities in group
interaction. They hold the society together because they are
shared in common. Since they share the same values with others,
the members of society are likely to see others as people like
themselves. They will therefore, have a sense of belonging to a
social group. They will feel a part of the wider society.
* Social Values foster economic progress of a society. For
instance, if truth and honesty are practiced by everybody, it will
promote fair dealings in all walks of life such as business,
education, political, social services, etc.
* Values like respect for others, co-operations, tolerance
develop a bond of togetherness. As a result, conflicts and
clashes get solved through mutual understanding.
Conclusion: To conclude, it is clear that we should live up our
noble social values because that has a lot of benefits on our
lives; on our economic progress, social relations, social
development and love and peace and much much more.
