Technical Data Sheet

6 3/4" VertiTrak

TM

Baker Hughes INTEQs VertiTrakTM system is an automated

system for drilling vertical wells, delivering reliable control in
multiple applications ranging from salt drilling to faulted zones
and highly-fractured formations without compromising preferred
drilling parameters.
The VertiTrakTM system incorporates a new, high performance
power section and pad steering technology (like the AutoTrak
system).

6 3/4" VertiTrakTM

Pulser Unit

VertiTrakTM is an independent downhole closed loop system with

the option of 2-way communication with the driller at surface.
The precise verticality can reduce the number of casing strings
required to reach TD.
TM

VertiTrak is designed to drill a vertical wellpath without the

need of string rotation, leading to
n

low tortuosity of the borehole

reduces risk of twist-off

minimized torque and drag

stick-slip avoidance

minimal BHA and casing wear

Power Section

In addition to optimizing the wellpath and reducing the overall

drilling costs, VertiTrakTM delivers improved penetration rates
due to the integrated X-treme power section.
Tool Description
The VertiTrakTM system combines INTEQs X-treme power
section with a modified bearing assembly consisting of
expandable ribs engineered to counteract the natural building
tendency of the formation. The steering force is produced by
hydraulic oil pressure, generated by an integrated turbine driven
oil pump. The digital downhole electronics measures any
deviation from vertical and automatically adjusts the individual
rib pressures to correct the course. The measured inclination and
other relevant data are transmitted to surface by using a positive
mud pulser.
