Transferring SAP System Measurement Results

Online
This document contains the most important details about
online transfer
Once you have completed the system measurement successfully or consolidated the
measurement data in the License Administration Workbench (LAW), you can transfer your data
directly to SAP.
GENERAL INFORMATION
SAP ensures that no user related or business relevant data is transferred to SAP, e. g. user names, account
numbers, revenues etc. The system measurement only determines the amount of users per user category
and the amount of engines in use. These data are provided in the measurement log which can be retrieved
in each SAP system.
Further information:
User Classification
Engine- and Self-Declaration-Products
The data are treated confidentially and processed only within SAP. There is no data transfer to third parties.
REQUIREMENTS

The Service Data Control Center (SDCC) or Service Data Manager (SDCCN) must be active (Notes
178631 and 763561).
You must have authorizations for SDCC_DEV = READ and SDCC_RUN = READ, WRITE for object
S_SDCC for transferring the data.

TRANSFERRING FROM THE MEASUREMENT PROGRAM (TRANSACTION USMM)

If you only have one SAP System in use, transfer the measurement results from the measurement program
(Transaction USMM) directly to SAP.
Availability

Online transfer of measurement results is available from SAP_BASIS Release 4.0B.

From software component SAP_BASIS 7.00 onward, you can use the Comments function to add
additional information about the measurement result that you would like to send to SAP (text or file
upload).

Procedure

Start the SAP System

Start the measurement program, Transaction USMM
Transfer the measurement data by clicking Send to SAP

Checking the transfer status

You can check the status of the various system measurement steps and data transfers by selecting
All transfers.
For more information about checking the status of data transfers, see Note 1142694.
Detailed information about checking the status of transfers is available in the SAP Library under
System measurement Check transfer status.

TRANSFERRING FROM THE LICENSE ADMINISTRATION WORKBENCH (TRANSACTION SLAW)

If you have more than one SAP System in use and you have consolidated measurement data in the LAW,
transfer the measurement results to SAP directly from the LAW (Transaction SLAW).

Call up the License Administration Workbench (Transaction SLAW or LICENSE_ADMIN).

To transfer the files containing the measurement data to SAP, select the Transfer directly to SAP
option from the Control LAW box.
If you have entered comments, you can now decide in the dialog window whether you want to send
them to SAP unchanged.

Check transfer status

To display a list of all transfers, select the Display transfers option from the Control LAW box. The
transfer log shows the status of all transfers made.

ALTERNATIVE TRANSFER OPTION

If you experience transfer problems that you cannot solve or if you have any other difficulties, you can also
send the data to SAP in a file attached to an e-mail. You can create the file in the measurement program and
then save it as a text file. For more information, see SAP Note 1226944.
