protection. When we have our physiological needs for example , the main
ones are food and water , our safety needs to dominate our behavior. These
needs are synchronized with our natural desire for a predictable, orderly world

understood as job security, savings accounts, insurance policies, financial
security, health, living in a safe area and well-being.

In other words, safety and security needs aim to reduce unfairness,
inconsistency, and the threat of emotional or physical harm. When these
needs are unfulfilled, an individual is unable to focus on higher levels in the
hierarchy.
Addressing safety and security needs towards students are applicable such
as teachers maintaining a fair, orderly, and safe classroom at all times.
Students are to understand their priority which is to obey grading and
disciplinary system . Consequences for their actions are also to be
understood by them . The classroom must be a place free from physical and
mental bullying where that is also categorized under safety and security.

from their surroundings. It is the fundamental basics for us; humans to first

threats. These include natural disaster, violence, various forms of child abuse,
poverty, lack of resources and emotional abandonment. Assessment of child
needs is done in many ways. Each child is different and requires different

aspects of safety and security. To cater these needs, there are several
strategies that can be carried out namely supportive counseling techniques,
crisis intervention techniques, program development, delivery of social
services and resources, referral to aiding agencies, and counselor
consultation with parents and other significant adults in the lives of children.
