BWPreandPostUpgradeandMigrationTasks:

NormallywhenthereisBWsystemupgradeorMigrationtoHANAdatabasefromXDB,weneedtoperformsomepre
andpostupgradeandmigrationstepsmanually.Forthisneedtogotoeachofthetransactionsandexecutethem
providingtherequiredselectioninputs.
Insteadofexecutingthetasksmanuallyforupgradeandmigration,SAPhasdeliveredtasklistswhichautomatemostof
theBWtasksrequiredforsystemupgradeandmigration.
Thebelowstepscontainhowtoimplementandexecutetheupgradeandmigrationtasks.

Creationofthetasklists.

FirstcheckfortheUpgradeandmigrationtasklists(SAP_BW_BEFOREUPGRADE,SAP_BW_AFTERUPGRADE,
SAP_BW_BEFOREMIGRATION,SAP_BW_AFTERMIGRATION)inthetransactioncodeSTC01.Ifthesetasklistsdoesnotexist
thenproceedfurthertoimplementthetasklists.

PleasechecktheSAPnote1734333whichcontainsthenecessarycodingrequiredforthetasklistcreationtofacilitateaBW
systemUpgradeandMigration.AlsocheckforthevalidityandprerequisitesintheSAPnote.Haveattachedthetasklistcreation
codingfilesbelow.

Byimplementingthefollowingmanualsteps,fourtasklistswillbecreated:SAP_BW_BEFOREUPGRADE,SAP_BW_AFTER
UPGRADE,SAP_BW_BEFOREMIGRATION,SAP_BW_AFTERMIGRATION.Pleasebeawarethatthesetaskslistsareintended
toeasesomeofthemanualtasksrequiredbyusers.TheydonotfullyreplacetheexecutionofALLtasksrequiredduringthe
differentphasesofanUpgradeorMigration.Assuchtheyshouldbeusedincombinationwithavailableupgradeguides.

1)DownloadtheattachedfileZNOTE_1734333_POST_70X.txtorZNOTE_1734333_POST_73X.txtor
ZNOTE_1734333_POST_74X.txtbasedontheBWrelease.
2)Createareport'ZNOTE_1734333_POST'intransactionse38(ABAPEditor).IntheattributesPopupentersome
descriptionandchoosetypeas'Executableprogram'.Savetheprogramaslocaltemporaryobject.

3)CopyandpastethecodefromthefileintotheABAPeditor.Saveandactivatethereport.

4)Executethereport.TheprogramwillautomaticallycreateseveralobjectslikePackage,FunctionGroup,Error
messages,Tasklistsandwillpromptyouforatransportrequest.Pleaseusethesametransportrequestasfortherest
ofthemanualactivitiesandthecorrectionsofthenote.Youdonotneedtotransportthereportyouhavecreated,butthe
objects,whichweregeneratedbythereport.
FirstexecutethereportinTESTRUNmode,tocheckforanymissingprerequisitesorerrors.Thenafterexecutein
UPDATEmode.ThisreportwillcreatethetasklistforUpgradeandMigration.

5)Whenweuncheckthemandatorytaskstoskip,informationwillbeshownbelow.

SAP_BW_BEFOREUPGRADEshouldbeexecutedaswhentheASUtoolboxpromptstheusertoactionfromwithin
SoftwareUpdateManager.
ThecompleteexecutionoftheSAP_BW_BEFOREUPGRADEtasklistissplitintotwophases.Whenthetasklistis
initiallytriggered,alltaskslistedpriortothe'Confirmallendusersarecurrentlylocked'taskareexecuted.Theremaining
tasksrequirethatnofurtherenduseractiontakeplaceonthesystemandmustthereforebecompletedwhenthe'user
lock'phaseoftheupgradeisreached.
Assuch,theadministratormustreturntheSAP_BW_BEFOREUPGRADEtasklistrunandmanuallyconfirmthe
'Confirmallendusersarecurrentlylocked'tasksothattheremainingtaskslistedintheSAP_BW_BEFORE
UPGRADEtasklistcanruntocompletion.

SAP_BW_AFTER_UPGRADE

SAP_BW_AFTERUPGRADEshouldbeexecutedwhentheASUtoolboxpromptstheusertoaconfromwithinSowareUpdate
Managerfollowingtheupgrade.
