Installations in these environments

often deal with line temperatures
which are below ambient
temperatures. When improperly
insulated, water vapour ingress and
thermal losses may cause
condensation or inefficient functioning
of the equip-ment.
The closed-cell structure of Armaflex
insulation materials provides an
excellent built-in water-vapour barrier
and a very low thermal conductivity.
These key factors keep the
temperatures of the medium stable
and prevent condensation from
forming.

Energy efficiency in
residential buildings

One of the simplest, most

inexpensive and effective energysaving measures is to insulate the
pipes of plumbing, heating and solar
systems. Energy losses can be
reduced by up to 87% and the payback period can be just 7 months.
Armaflex has very good thermal
insulation properties. Depending on
the type of rubber, the thermal
conductivity lies between 0.033 and
0.040 W/(mK) at a mean temperature
of 0 C.

Healthy indoor environments

in public buildings

The Insulation of building equipment

must avoid microbial pollution and
emission of spores, cells, fragments
and volatile organic compounds
(VOC) into indoor air, as these may
contribute to the sick building
syndrome. Mould and mildew,
growing in areas of excess moisture
in combination with dust and dirt, may
also initiate biological or chemical
degradation of materials.
Armaflex insulation materials are
dust- and fibre-free and have an inbuilt passive antimicrobial protection.
Armacell products with Microban
antimicrobial technology offer
additional levels of protection,
preventing mould and bacteria from
settling throughout the life of the
installation.

Security in industrial, marine and

petrochemical environments

One of the greatest challenges for

insulation in oil and gas, marine and
petrochemical industrial
environments is corrosion under
insulation (CUI).
System failure and downtimes cause
huge losses and must be avoided at
all cost in this type of in-dustry. In
addition, people safety, noise control
and the protection of surrounding
ecosystems are of the highest
importance.
Armacell is aware of the high risks
and harsh environments. It has
partners in all phases of the project
and has developed dedicated
insulation systems for these
industries.
