Chapter 1 Our One Thing - Top Secret: Hiding in Plain Sight

Curtis fought back a surge of nausea -- damn motion sickness -- and stared out the side

window as the chopper began a bumpy descent. “That it?”

“Sir, yes, sir.” The pilot barked a military response, the first words out of his mouth since

they took flight. “Mojave Air and Space Port, sir – welcome, sir.”

“Not much to look at from up here.” The squat concrete buildings, unimaginative in

architecture, blended into the drab, tan colored rock and sand surroundings.

“Most of it’s underground, sir.”

Curtis stifled a sigh of irritation. “I’m not an officer, don’t wear a uniform and you needn’t

call me sir.”

“Sir, sorry, sir,” the young Lieutenant answered with no trace of humor. He turned his

full attention to the dials and controls, speaking into his mouthpiece as he did. “Flight

Beta Tango Four – permission to land.”

A tinny voice emanated from the pilot’s ear plugs, just loud enough to register as a

scratchy whisper to Curtis. The approaching buildings commanded all his attention.

Much larger than he expected, having seen them from the air, the thick walls of the port

jutted out of a sheer cliff wall. About a quarter of a mile off, three silver Quonsets

shimmered like some liquid mirage in the mid day heat. No visible activity on the surface

gave any hint they approached a multi-billion dollar, recently completed military base.

A heavy thump jolted the craft and sent a twinge of pain up the length of Curtis’s spine,

rendering unnecessary the pilot’s announcement. “Sir, we’ve landed, sir.”

“Thank you, Lieutenant -- what did you say your name was?” Curtis stretched his back,

sure the descending whine from the recently killed motor and slowing rotors in truth

emanated from his cramped muscles.

“I didn’t, sir.” The pilot busied himself with post landing activity and muttered “Check,

check – roger that – check,” into his mouthpiece. He looked up. “Yes, sir, here they

come.”

Curtis followed the pilot’s gaze, watched a silver overhead door slide up on one of the

rectangular annexes and a ground craft driven by one military police officer and carrying

another wheel out onto the ground, kicking up yellow dust in its wake.

“Your escort, sir,” said the Lieutenant, pointing to the approaching craft. He slid out,

ducking under the still revolving blades, came around to Curtis’s side and offered a

hand down.

Curtis jumped down, ignoring the younger man’s assistance, and steeled himself not to

wince at the impact. “Pass me my case, will you?” He tucked his computer case under

his arm – “Thanks, and for the ride, too” – and turned to face the MP’s. “Curtis Sparks.”

“Sir.” The well-muscled officer barely restrained a salute. “The General is waiting for

you. This way, sir.”

Curtis climbed into the back seat, cradling his computer case beside him. The desert

breeze scraped his cheek like a dull razor – hot, dry and dusty. “Hope the General has a

drink waiting for me,” he muttered to himself.

“Sir?” The second MP turned in his seat.

“Nothing.” He was flung forcefully back against the seat as the craft leapt into motion.

Just what my back needs next, he grumbled internally, and dismissed the thought. He

needed to focus, to prepare himself for what was to come – his meeting with the

General.

Curtis was talking to his old PhD study friend, General Daemon in his office at Mojave

Air and Space Port. They had not seen each other for almost 30 years. They had
researched together in the breakthrough of Unified Quantum Field Theory (UQFT) and

integrated the concepts and applications into quantum biophysics in living organisms.

Both used synthetic biology as a valuable approach to biological engineering. It was

innovative and combined science and math. They earned their Doctorate Degrees in the

process.

Curtis asked, “What project are you working on?” General Daemon replied, “I will show

you.” He barked a command to no one in particular, “I need two Military Policemen

(MPs).” Curtis heard over a speaker a, “Yes sir.” Within seconds, the two MPs came in

the office.

General Daemon said, “Our computers monitor everything 24/7 everywhere. I will show

you an example of my project. If there is a bank robbery happening in Bakersfield, we

can watch. Watch how we take care of things the right way.” General Daemon barked a

command, “Computer, display on-going bank robbery in Bakersfield.”

Immediately a life-sized 3D hologram displayed a realistic looking huge greasy, dirty

man with his extended right hand holding a pistol grip sawed-off shot gun aimed at a

young bank teller behind the counter. The glassy-eyed man’s body twitched as he

approached the trembling bank teller. His bulging snake eyes were locked into the

helpless teller’s eyes when he hissed, “This is a hold-up, give me your money.” Tears

ran down her flushed face as she screamed, “What am I supposed to do?”

Terrified, in slow motion, she opened the cash drawer and put all of her cash on the

counter. The bank robber with his left hand grabbed her long red hair, and growled, “I

bet you can’t wait to be alone with me.” He leaned across the counter and pulled her

face to his face. His right hand held the shotgun to her head. She sobbed, “Somebody

please help me.” Slowly, the robber released his grip with a sighing groan. His eyes
rolled up and he collapsed to the floor dead. The hologram disappeared. Both Military

Police (MP’s) smiled as they left.

General Daemon said to Curtis, “They did the right thing” as the MP’s left. The MPs had

executed a bank robber from a distance. No one would know. No one needs to know.

He is a master evil man in disguise. He enemies all die a natural death, or in accidents.

Curtis did not know the rogue General he was talking to. He was not the same man who

had been his friend. Curtis must stop him. To stop the tentacles moving, you must kill

the octopus.

Curtis learned General Daemon had mastered the ability to turn almost anything

anywhere into a weapon including nano scale technologies. His ubiquitous surveillance

on demand coupled with his Top Secret communications technologies had created a

monster with mass destruction capabilities. His Orwellian-style by cybernetic technology

was totally unknown to the public. His technology links the brains of people to satellites

controlled by ground-based supercomputers.

General Daemon had developed the Noetic notion human thought has mass and gravity

using multiple ways of monitoring human thoughts. He was aware Noetics philosophy

centers around the idea that the human mind is capable of affecting or even doing work

to the physical world. He knew thoughts and spirit are not in fact imaginary, but Bose or

photon based, meaning essentially that the mind can be quantified by formula which

describe quantum materials such as light. Thoughts are weightless. Just as gravity

affects all matter, so do thoughts to an apparent lesser degree He had explained to

Curtis years ago his thoughts about Noetic scientist. He believed many individuals

focusing their thoughts could actually affect world events. He used an analogy with
earth’s gravity. It is the sum of the gravitational action of all its bits of rock and

everything else, so too would the power of human thought add up if focused together.

General Daemon looking at Curtis with pride said, “United you win. They killed him from

here. We monitor everything and know what, how and when to do the right thing. We

have global to individual monitoring capabilities. Our quantum computers can pinpoint

any activity we wish to monitor. In areas of interest, we have Radio Frequency ID

(RFID) smart dust grains broadcasted. These tiny autonomous wireless sensors provide

inputs to produce artificial intelligence on demand.”

Curtis felt a cold chill run down his spine. Curtis realized General Daemon thought he

was above the law. He operated his own private law that was invisible. General

Daemon was hiding in plain sight behind another government Authorized Top Secret

Experimental Flying Weapons Systems program based at Edwards Air Force Base in

California. It was located in an isolated underground area in the Mojave Desert. No one

had the need to know what he was doing. No one knew.

General Daemon was a rogue General with his own personal agenda building a small

army of soldiers that answered only to him. He decided what was right, or wrong. His

world was black or white. General Daemon had eliminated his “bad” human.

General Daemon had created a perfect cyber-soldier. He was using Remote Neural

Monitoring (RNM) making it possible to read and control a person’s mind and actions

and eliminating them.

Curtis had been briefed about Remote Neural Monitoring (RNM). The National Security

Agency (NSA) of the US had developed a very efficient method of controlling the human

brain. This technology is called Remote Neural Monitoring (RNM).

Remote Neural Monitoring (RNM) makes it possible to read and control a person’s

emotional thought processes along with the subconscious and dreams. People can be

eliminated through RNM. Various methods can be used: cardiac arrest, strokes (brain

attack), or cars wrecks etc. At present, around the world, supercomputers are

monitoring millions of people simultaneously with the speed of 40 billion bits per second.

The recording machines in the government’s Signals Intelligence System (SIS) program

have electronic equipment which investigates electrical activity in humans from a

distance. This computer-generated brain mapping can constantly monitor all electrical

activities in the brain. The recording aid system decodes selected individual brain maps

for security purposes.

The Signals Intelligence mission to decode electromagnetic field (EMF) waves in the

environment for wirelessly tapping into computers and tracking persons with the

electrical currents in their bodies.

General Daemon sat down and waved Curtis to join him at his end of the conference

table, “Remember the phrase, ‘Eyes wide shut?’ we are highly visible, but no one sees

us. We have the perfect cover: to hide in public.”

Daemon, pressing his hands flat on the table, “My associates and I have the capability

to do as Hermes Trismegistus summed on his Emerald Tablet.” Curtis Sparks shocked

and, irritated. He interrupted, “I do not need a history lesson.”

Like a patient professor, General Daemon said, “That which is below corresponds to

that which is above, and which is above corresponds to that which is below, in the

accomplishment of the miracle of the One Thing…”

To make his point, General Daemon emphasized, “Our One Thing is to do what we

think is right – anywhere in or out of this world. You saw an example of our one thing
was right when we killed the bank robber. We monitor the air and ground 24/7. No one

needs to know. No one knows. Our courts are not responsive to the good citizens. Bad

people are polluting the earth. We are going to save the earth and eliminate the bad

people. I will eliminate all people who kill in the name of God, or Allah. In the last one

hundred years, over 80,000,000 people have been killed because of religion, or

communism. People killing people for the wrong reasons. I am going to stop this

madness.”

General Daemon had placed himself as the one who determine what the “right thing”

was. He was in charge. He had absolute power. Curtis was reluctant to notify the police.

He did not know if General Daemon had any supporters, or how extensive General

Daemon network of supporters were.

Curtis asked Daemon, “Is it really possible to externally direct the evolution of human

culture?” Daemon replied, “History gives many examples. The evolution of the structure

of cultural norms in humans is a parallel to the evolution of the genetic system. Genes

and culture are mechanically distinct systems of inheritance. Behavior is the product of

predispositions resulting from genetic inheritance and predispositions resulting from

cultural inheritance.”

Curtis trying to understand his old PhD classmate said, “What makes cultural learning of

behaviors is that you eliminate ‘bad’ people, the surviving good people will learn the

good behaviors because it is advantageous.”

General Daemon replied, “The hook is what encourages the ‘host’ to spread the

accepted behaviors. It is like very similar to biology, survival of the fittest. An example is

Christianity. Religions represent some of the most powerful and elaborate complex

behaviors. They have evolved over millennia into countless variants and co-evolved
with cultures. The behaviors and beliefs form a symbiotic whole. The core behaviors

and beliefs need symbiotic behaviors to provide benefits and provide legitimacy to the

believers.”

Curtis pressing, trying to understand General Daemon’s motivation, asked, “Does your

New World Order use the bait of a better peaceful life, freedom from fear, personal

happiness, and prosperity combined with the threat of elimination, or damnation to

promote interest and acceptance?”

“It will be a New World view.” General Daemon looking off into the distance as a self-

appointed visionary said, “No others will be allowed to influence high level planning and

behaviors. It is like the bible in Mathew 24, ‘Ye cannot serve God and man.’ Humans

will be encouraged to set good examples for others, which also increases the likelihood

of learning acceptable behaviors through social learning.”

Curtis wheeled around looking General Daemon straight into his eyes, “You want to

eliminate God?” General Daemon with an air of self-assurance replies, “Not eliminate,

but improve all human behaviors. I want to eliminate bad behaviors. I want to improve

their behaviors by making them an offer they cannot refuse.”

He was out of control; his reality was skewed. Although General Daemon worked in the

background, he was a very dangerous man. General Daemon was directing a Top

Secret “Black Box” project that not accountable to anyone. The government’s security

philosophy based on “the need to know” basis was corrupted by a rogue General.

General Daemon had turned into a self-righteous demon.

General Daemon was a destructive individual where one clandestine act of his could

cause millions of deaths because society had surrendered its rights to govern to a

government that was not accountable. Universal surveillance had become accepted. If
he could kill one bank robber, what would stop him from killing millions of others he

considered “bad.”

General Daemon’s the “end justifies the means” code of ethics apparently had no

limitations. General Daemon can demand his soldiers to follow orders even if faced with

certain execution. They do not question their orders.

Curtis realized General Daemon trusted him. He must take advantage of his trust and

stop this mad, out-of-control man that apparently had unlimited funding. General

Daemon had changed to an unknown demon. Curtis needed to determine who else was

involved and what their timetable was. He must find out what General Daemon’s plans

are.
