MINIMIZE THE RISK OF DISEASE

Minimize the risk of disease

Tuberculosis transmission has been recorded in the health care centers where patients and
staff members are exposed to people having symptoms of TB. The primary victims of TB spread
are the workers of health care center because they are directly involved in the treatment process
of patients (Infection Control, 2016). I am charged with the responsibility to minimize the risk of
TB spread among staff and patients as one of the patients is positive for active TB. The very first
step in the minimization of threat for other patients and staff is isolation and separation of the
person who is suspected for TB. A diagnostic evaluation of the patient being suspected must be
carried out immediately for controlling purpose. Airborne infection isolation (AII) room should
be created promptly for patient with TB infection; this separate room has controlled
environmental factors which hinder the spread of TB to other patients and staff in the health care
center (Guidelines for infection prevention and control for TB, 2008).
As office administrator, I will arrange the facility of airborne infection isolation (AII) on
immediate basis for risk mitigation. Another prompt step on diagnosis of patient being infected
with TB is initiation of treatment. The treatment of the patient should be started within less time
span in order to complete the treatment therapy in 2 weeks (Naomi & Bock, n.d). The workers
attending the patient having TB will be examined in frequent basis in order to eradicate possible
contamination that they can bring and spread to other patients and workers in the health care
(Implementing the who policy on tb infection control in health-care facilities, 2013). The
education of workers and patient to protect themselves and others from the contagious infection
of TB us another step for mitigation of risk associated with the spread of TB.
