Aim- To simulate the slurry flow through a butterfly valve when
the valve is turned from partially opened condition to completely closed condition DescriptionThe slurry solution is acid leach solution containing dilute sulphuric acid with uranium particles suspended in it. The volume fraction of uranium particles (secondary phase) is unknown. But it is assumed to be around 12-15%, A transient simulation needs to be done as the flow changes need to be captured for an interval when the partially opened valve goes to completely closed position. Known inputs1. Temperature of the slurry 423 K 2. Particle size- 1.5 mm I was thinking of MDM (moving & deforming mesh) for this case with an udf, as one simulation is enough to capture the process. If MDM is too complex, then what else could be done? And also what are the various monitors to be setup for judging convergence in multiphase flows? So far, I have been only able to do steady state simulation for a water-sand slurry flow in a horizontal pipeline. I dont have any exposure in udf also.
