Job Duties
Responsibilities include:
•Patrol all assigned areas within the Museum and on Museum grounds to observe, caution,
instruct, correct, investigate and report activities to maintain order and protect Museum
property, visitors and staff
•Respond to requests for assistance and evaluate appropriate courses of action
•Respond to emergency situations such as fire, evacuation plan implementation or
employee/visitor injuries
•Maintain a post at assigned Museum entrance to screen incoming personnel
•May perform limited emergency first aid treatment in the absence of EMT
•Prepare required security and incident reports and records (documents actions taken while
on patrol or at post)
•Provide customer assistance to Museum visitors

Qualifications
•A high school diploma or equivalent is required
•Previous security, military, or law enforcement experience is desired
•The State of Illinois twenty-hour Security Certification is required upon hire or within a
reasonable amount of time.

Minimum Requirements:
Requires possession of a Masters degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related
science research field from an accredited university, plus four years of professional
experience in applied epidemiology or a related research field. A PHD degree in
epidemiology is preferred. Requires detailed knowledge of STD/HIV epidemiology, advance
statistical methods including logistical regression and GIS (Global Information Systems)

Job Description: Transports passengers on a pre-determined route and assists with route
and fare information as well as boarding and deboarding bus. Monitors farebox to ascertain
correct fare has been deposited, dispenses and collects transfers. Files a defect card daily,

Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Member Relations Director, the Member Relations
Coordinator not only will perform all duties related to the Member Service Staff but also will
lead the operation of the Member Service Desk by responding to personal, personnel,
participants and facility needs.
Requirements: Must have a High School Diploma with 3 months to 1 year of prior
experience. Some supervision experience required.
Job Summary:
Provides members and prospective members with information and assistance as it relates to
membership, program and other YMCA services. Individual is responsible for providing a
high level of customer service to YMCA members, program participants, and guests.
Eligible students:
Students accepted in the program should come from underrepresented minorities in science
as defined by the National Institutes of Science. Most of the students accepted in the
program are self-reported to be African-American, Hispanic, or Native-American.
Expectations: The students are expected to spend eight weeks in the research laboratories.
The program usually begins after the Chicago Public Schools finish for the summer. The
student will spend 8 hours a day from 9AM to 5PM, 5 days a week on Monday through
Friday, working with scientists on a research project which is usually part of an on-going
research effort in that laboratory. The students are expected to document their work in a
laboratory notebook. At the end of the summer the students must write a one page abstract
that summarizes their work and also give a 15-minute oral presentation of their work at a
departmental seminar. This special opportunity/job is expected to be a full-time commitment
for the student.
Recruitment: Students are recruited through contacts with local high school chemistry and
biology teachers, especially those with students in honors program. We are looking for
highly motivated students. Some recruitment occurs at local science fairs. The ideal
student is usually finishing their junior year and has received "A's" in their chemistry and
biology classes. Most successful applicants are recommended for the program by their
science teachers.
Compensation: The students receive $2400 for their work in the summer program. Most
students use their projects to participate in the City of Chicago, State of Illinois and even
International Science fairs.
Evaluation:
The students are asked to evaluate their introductory scientific methods instruction. They
also receive a pre- and post- program quiz to evaluate if they have increased their
knowledge about general biochemistry and laboratory skills.

The Teacher Assistant/Group Worker, under the supervision of the School Age Coordinator
