Introduction

1.

The heart is the hub of circulatory

system. It separately but simultaneously
pumps oxygen-poor blood to the lungs
and oxygen-rich blood to the body.
Blood circulation allows animals to
acquire nutrients, exchange gases, and
dispose waste products in their body.

2.

3.

Our heart rate is usually measuring in

heart beats per minute and it is essential
to monitor our heart rate. When your
heart beats too fast, it can be dangerous.
People who exceed their target heart rate
are pushing themselves past their bodys
fitness level, which can lead to
dehydration putting you at risk for
dizziness and possible fainting.
There are various stimulus that can
increase our heart rate and in this lab,
we are trying to find the effect of hard
rock music on heart rate.

Hypothesis
If we listen to rock music,
our heart rate will
increase, because the
high intensity and fast
tempos of the song can
make people feel
stressful / excited and
therefore affect their
heart rate.

Prediction
If our experiment
is conducted
successfully, after
listening to rock
music, our group
members heart
rate will increase.

4.

5.

The double bar graph shows that the purple bars are all taller than
the yellow bar which means that out heart rates increase after
listening to rock songs. Based on data collected, we can
conclude that hard rock music has an effect on an individual's
resting heart rate.

Measure the resting heart rate

for 3 times and calculate the
average heart rate per minute.
Listen to the full song of
Intentions at volume 5 and
measure the heart rate right
after listening to the song
Record the data in the data
table
Repeat procedure 1-3 for each
person in the group and make
sure everyone is listening to the
same song at the same volume.
Compare each persons heart
rate before and after listening to
the song and make a
conclusion

Methods/Procedure

According to the data collected, we

can conclude that the song Intentions
increase our heart rate.
There are some that could be made to
ensure more accurate results. During
class time, there were twenty other
students moving around in the room
making noises, which could have
been a confounding variable.
Moreover, only four people participate
in this experiment. It could be better
for more people to be tested to make
a accurate prediction for the whole
population.

Purple dots are all above yellow dots which shows that the heart
rate after listening to the music are higher

Throughout this experiment, it has been proven that hard rock music has an
effect on an individual's resting heart rate. Our results were accurate in this
project, leading to correct results for our hypothesis. After we listened to the
hard rock song, our heart rates increased due to the loudness of the song.
Although it did increase a lot over all, there were some changes.
